Each time you use a "new" or "different" DirIcon ux, you have to "reselect" because it's taking "old value" with new code which might not exists and it will displayed both normal and flip. Also remember to always use the matching HUD ux for the DirIcon you're using. You can't mixed them because the flip data used in HUD ux are defined in DirIcon ux that you're using.

It would seem that default.vis from corrections.zip is causing the problem. So, instead of not using the ux (which might prevent fixing of other issues), I would recommend you temporary not use default.vis (until problem is found from inside it) Attached is corrections.zip with default.vis not being used.

Thanks for the temporary fix. I had a look inside the zip and could not figured out how the default.vis file worked. I looked into the skincfg.ini file for a switch to turn ON or OFF but could not find anything matching was I was looking for. To date, I was running without the corrections.zip file and did not see any ill effects but I do agree with you, I am bound to have some issues at one point or another.

Now that I have chosen your skin, I have spent time configuring it to my liking. I just need to figure out how to shut up the voice reading the next and past streets at each crossing. It's a bit annoying in a city.... Something I found strange while configuring the skin, I was changing settings and the modifications were not applied until I restarted iGo. Not sure if it's caused by the missing corrections.zip or there is a delay before a change gets in effect. Anyway that's my only irritant left to deal with. I can't ask anything better than what you have done.

    I really appreciate your work.

Next/Cross Street "announcement" is controlled by pressing the next street area (top center). It cycled between, 1) Next street on 2) Next street voice off and 3) Next street off. I had mentioned this info in the post of the function at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] . Most settings are settable via GUI, but few* are done via configuration inside sys.txt If you have time, I recommend reading EACH of my posts to get info on them. I don't think any settings done by corrections.zip impact the settings problem you're experiencing. What is most important is NOT to use any UX's that are not part of (or made for) the cracked Basar. Here is explanation why wrong UX's would cause delay in loading

Usually, a user interested in a Skin, will try it first and then if he/she finds the skin to his/her liking, will read all the posts but not having any specific issues at this time, it's mostly glancing at issues and/or solutions. Once, someone needs to resolve an issue, another full read of the thread. I personally read all the posts 3 times. I recall reading about previous/next streets. I recall discussions about it's usefulness and personally I was not planning at using it so I glanced through it. I tried it and found it a great feature but I had an issue with the voice so I knew I had to reread everything for a 4th time which translate to date to 435X4 messages to read.

I was not planning on asking the question and do my homework but when I had to acknowledge your work on the corrections.zip file, I took the opportunity to state (not ask) my issue and was hoping just a message style (go settings/...) and save myself 30 minutes of reading.

The bottom line is there is no easy solution to this problem. It is becoming tedious to get solution to specific problem because of the size of the thread. We are at 435 messages and soon it will go above 1,000. I do not know if someone could thing of ways of helping finding solutions quickly. Maybe a sub-thread dealing with issues/solutions only or deleting non critical old posts like this one. I am not a wise man, I just hope someone could think of a more efficient ways of passing info. I feel for you, Catymag and all Admins spending hours repeating info already there.

I expect you to come back with the search button as a solution but streets and voice are not good search keywords and often searches with multi words are treated as a "OR", not a "AND" which makes it totally useless. Sometimes the search works, many times it fails miserably.

Edit: Oups. I was forgetting to thank you for taking the time to give me a comprehensive reply to my problem. I do not expect any reply to this post.

    @varso.
You can read o4i posts only. Look at starting post and click in his quoted posts the two arrows icon, you will get the related post.
Usually when he posts a new ux all the instructions needed to use it are posted too.
Users posts their issues and when there is a correction or an update I quote the new post in OP.
I know it's not perfect, but it should make users life easier
Actually I'm on vacation, so my work is a bit delayed, sorry for this

Yes, I agreed that in the "old days" skins are posted as a "complete" set. iGO/Primo skins are indeed simpler since it's really one .zip file. For NextGen, it gets complicated because of ux's. That being said, when I first started doing this (in April), I was not intending to continue modding, just some minor changes and to play with Cross Street functionality (which is what I really needed) There are two approaches to modding:
    1. Do it dynamically and "on-the-fly" (post when done and not wait until a release time to post)
    2. Release only at certain point in time (like Quarterly)
With option 1, you (as a user) makes the decision while option 2, the decision is made by me. I figured giving the user the decision is better. In both cases, each of my releases will still contain info on what changes/added and how to use it. And I encourage users to read the info that I took time to typed up Keeping up with the thread also help and if you know answer to any newbie questions, please help out in replying (but try to stay on topic) I would love to reset this thread by having a new thread with latest "snap shot" of releases (maybe calling it osiris4isis Basarsoft skin version 0.1), but no time to do that for now. I'm in the middle of working on cracking something else at the moment.
Reading it multiple times is also important since I have a time machine that I uses to traveled back and change the posts. My replied wasn't intended to ridicule anyone, just to inform and perhaps remind people of what's available. Catymag has been updating the first post to served as a short cut and summary because we know thread will gets long; tremendous thanks to her. Don't forget this threads also have some out of topic posts as well. As a developer* and tester (only for 800x480), I often don't have much time to answer everyone questions, but I do it whenever I get a chance. I often do multiple things and "skin hacking" is not my primary task. I do it as a distraction to the monotony of doing other things and sometime as a way to get fresh solution to a problem I'm working on.

    * still learning, I only started doing this since April of 2016; there are many things that I love to add/change to make this skin better. This skin is still young and should continue to improved over time. Unless I get bored of hacking it.

P.S. I agree searching for short terms doesn't work. I suggest you increase the number of posts per page and use browser page search, it should be better. Other than that, google search might gives answer as well.

    Hi guys,

Got this all working (after my period of stupidity) and it is great, thank you all. Just one thing i would like to alter (for now) and hope you can point me in the right direction. While us English are responsible for giving America our great language many years ago, what they have done to it since is not our responsibility.

I would like to change "highway" to "motorway" and "exit" to "junction". It gets a bit confusing because in the UK we "exit the motorway at junction.." and we "take the slip road" but "exit" is also used.

Is this something I could do? I'm not really as stupid as I have made out. Do I need to access the dictionary.zip in a previous post?

If you can point me in the right direction, that would be great

@piercedpipe, To do what you ask is not hard, just tedious. There are two areas you have to play with:
    1. To change text* used in GUI, you can modified it via the language *.zip you're using (look under the content/lang directory)
Look at i18n/Dictionary.lang inside the language *.zip file you're using.
    2. To change TTS voice, look at the TTS *.zip you're using. Look at i18n/dictionary.voice inside the TTS *.zip you're using.

    * you can only change what are made available to change by the developer. For example, if I'm writing code to allow the text "Red" used in DirIcon/HUD ux's to change, then you are allow to have entry to have "Red" changed to something else.

@navigator, I do not understand what you mean? Instruction on how to use google.com search to find info/instruction on each of my mod/post? Or you mean a guide on how to mod skin/ux's?
