    Default cursor colours

    On the home run now!

I've been reading the info.ini file in the cursor's zip file, and I while I don't understand a lot about what it does, I figured if I swap 'day' for 'night and viceversa, then I'll get a lime green cursor in the day time, and so I did, and it works!

Now I have 2 cursor variations available, the one you supplied with red/day and lime/night, and the opposite, which is just great because now when I get out on the bike I can tinker with them to see what shows up the best. I changed the internal name to include the word 'day' in it to distinguish between them. I'd be interested to know what graphics package you used to modify the cursor's colours, and even its shape, as it could be fun to mess about with it.

All in all I think I have the best colour schemes that it is possible to get out of a GPS that is subjected to strong daylight. All I need now is a GPS that churns through a few megawatts to show clearly in direct bright sunlight

Many thanks for your help with this - there are very few indeed up to speed with how to tinker with IGO colour schemes.
    cheers
    John

i dont think the schemes is the problem if you drive a motorcycle.if you have all roads in the same high contrast colors you see only a big, big mess in the map.why you dont try the Becker mabma who have special default.vis and the right cameras settings for motorcycles driving. Its a far way the best gps program for motorcycles and its igo.

There's a couple of programs required to edit the images, iGO uses a special compressed format of .bmp images for most of it's graphics.
They first have to be converted to .png for editing (transparency etc.) then converted back to the iGO .bmp format so the program can use them.
For converting to and from the iGO .bmp format I use iPAQ 31x.
To do the editing of the .png's I use GIMP.

Here's a .png of the daycar image to have a play with.

Thanks for your reply. The map is now highly readable now, which it wasn't before. When riding I have very little time to sit there trying to read a map of multiple colours, and having a high contrast yellow roads on black background is perfect.

I don't know anything about the Becker mabma - can you tell me more and perhaps provide a link as to where I will find it?
    thanks!

    Search does not hurt:

You are right, a search doesn't hurt, but as I see now it was mispelt as 'mabma' instead of Mamba, which does not help when as I said, I knew nothing about 'mabma' to start with. I think if I were to make a suggestion to a newcomer of something I knew was elsewhere, I'd have the courtesy to say where it was or provide a link to it rather than make a brief mispelt comment, but that's just me I guess.

I can see now that it is written "mabma" .
If you did not know, the human eye and brain read the word as a whole, it is necessary that only the first and last letters are in place. So I see it: mamba.
Also, you had a first reference: Becker. These are some general unwritten rules of search. Characteristic words and common sense

Anyway, my comment was education also, and I gave you the proper link.

A google search of 'mabma igo' would have corrected the 'mamba' misspelled
