help Nuvi2599 European map update woes

A few years ago I bought a nuvi2599 SatNav with "free" European map updates "for life". I also bought US map data that was supplied on an 8Gb mini-SD card.

A couple of days ago I recieved a notification that map updates were available. I duly fired up Garmin Express but was told that there was so much data in the new update I could not install it unless I bought a new mini SD card.

    So much for "free".

However, I was offered an alternative. I was offered the option of installing just UK & Ireland maps but lo and behold it turned out that were I to have selected that option I would have lost the ability to issue voice commands.

I contacted Garmin support who told me that:

    1) They would not provide me with a 32GB mini SD card.
    2) Even if I bought my own mini SD card my US maps would not be transferable to the new SD card
    3) They would not themselves provide me with a copy of the US maps that I already bought on a 32GB mini SD card, even if I offered to pay for said card.

In short, the only options I had were:

    a) To come down to UK & Ireland maps alone and at the same time to forfeit my ability to issue voice commands or
    b) To but my own 32GB SD card for the European maps and face the prospect of swapping SD cards each time I went to the states.

It seems to me that this is a material breach of Garmin's contract to provide "free map updates for life" but given the fact that threatening a class action suit would yield nothing but derision, is there any way (supported or otherwise) for me to copy both my legally purchased US map data onto a 32GB mini-SD card and then simultaneously install my legititmate European map updates onto the same card?

    Thanks in advance

    1. How often do you travel between Europe and America? (I mean, swapping SD cards once in a while is no big deal...)
    2. Not sure if the following will work, but it's worth trying: US map is much smaller than Europe. Suppose you try to copy the US files into the device's internal memory into the correct folders and sub-folders(!), after having erased the old Europe map) and see if the US map is still acceptable.
If this works, you'll have again two maps simultaneously

Best option if you want to stay legal is to swap SD Cards.
You will be able to update the EU to the latest version but the US will Stay on the version you bought forever.

This will not work because the Map is unlocked to the volume id of your SD Card.
