    Anyway, first try to fix values for gps port and baud rate in sys.txt. For example:
    [gps]
    port=7
    baud=57600
    Igo8 program versions have built in option for scanning for this ports.
    Menu > Settings > GPS (second screen) > untick "GPS enabled" > then it shows "autodetect" button, click on it
    Sorry should have been more descriptive.

    The unit is my Kia factory LG unit which has a MIPS processor. It currently has built in GPS but the maps suck.

    I"m running this GPS program off a USB, it's Nav n Go. I tried the Autodetect method and it worked fine but i'm finding it's dropping in and out where as my factory GPS one is consistently connected.

    Another issue i'm finding with the USB software is i'm not getting any audio, even though I have audio files on the USB.

    OEM LG LAN8900EKYN? Navigation software is NAVTEQ. Problem is USB. Unit is not designed to operate with navigation from usb.
    I send you PM with link from KIA forum. Of course, operation is delicate, and if you want to do something, you are doing it at your own risk.

    Yes that one. I've got Wolfncu on a usb which lets me run a navigation software from the USB. I updated the sys.text file to connect to the right port and baud so hopefully that fixes that issue. But i'm not getting sound from the GPS for directions or warnings.

    Well, Igo 8 series uses different voice engine, also have its own voice files. Maybe it is a problem, look for proper voice format.

    It's a widely known problem with WinCE-based head units... Third party navigation programs can't use the sound engine correctly.
    We've solved all such problems (and many others) in Menavrus-like custom firmwares for Renault/Kia/Hyundai head units. No need for 1AMuet.mp3 or other hacks.
    We were even able to implement 3G modem and ELM327 adapter support for Renault MediaNav. RNDIS support will be added soon.

    For what it's worth, the sound engine works fine on my WinCE head-unit (Rosen DS-GM1010). I have no issues whatsoever with iGo8 TTS or Primo TTS (or any other WinCE-based navigation app). On my head-unit, when TTS (or any sound) is active while in navigation mode, the front speakers mute and the navigation audio comes out of the front speakers. Then the front speakers un-mute when the audio is complete. However, I believe that this is doen via hardware and not software (there are no sys.txt modifications required to make this work).

    Unless you are referring specifically to MIPS-based WinCE headunits? Or maybe you are referring to medianav-specific WinCE headunits (sorry, not familiar with those). When I read your post, I thought that you were talking about WinCE headunits in general.

    Here I'm talking about Renault/Kia/Hyundai head units with MIPS processors. And of course there are much more other head units with such problems. You're just lucky with your Rosen DS-GM1010.

    I see that you mentioned adding ELM327 adapter support on teh Renault medianav units - now *that* is something that I've *love* to add to my Rosen WinCE headunit! It does have bluetooth - think someone like that would be possible on a Rosen? Sorry for off-topic conversation!
