    Guide HNR - HSP - TMC - TMC PRO - With or without it???

    I hope I am not opening post that has already been open but I would really like to learn more from you guys, from more experienced users or drivers.

    TWO BIG Qs

    - Simply how do you fully utilize HNR, HSP, TMC, TMC PRO (not clear what this is) etc?
    - Is there a big difference in routing when HNR, HSP files are present or not?

    This is what I found on line and if somebody can provide us with more info (simple) please do it.

    TMC (Traffic Message Channel) in Car GPS Navigation Player System

    TMC (Traffic Message Channel) in navigation function is a technology for delivering traffic and travel information to motor vehicle drivers. It is digitally coded, using the Radio Data System on conventional FM radio broadcasts in car DVD player. It can also be transmitted on Digital Audio Broadcasting or satellite radio. TMC in gps allows silent delivery of dynamic information suitable for reproduction or display in the user's language without interrupting audio broadcast services. Both public and commercial services are operational in many countries. When data is integrated directly into a navigation system, traffic information can be used in the system's route calculation.

    HSP - Smart Routes

    HSP file is an iGO Primo Histspeed File. iGO Primo is a GPS navigation software package for PDA/PNA devices, developed by Hungary-based Nav N Go Ltd.

    Chooses the best route based on day of week and time of day
    Considers past speed patterns
    Utilizes
    Traffic patterns (Navteq)
    Speed Profiles (Tele Atlas)
    The additional info is in separate content files (.HSP and .FSP)
    The SW feature is included in the base product, but requires additional content and content license.

    HNR - Defined Routes

    The hnr file extension is associated with iGo Primo GPS navigation software and GPS navigation devices developed by NNG Software.
    The hnr files contain the most economical (shortest) routes data.

    TMC PRO - HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS IS? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NORMAL TMC AND TMC PRO?

    If anybody can provide us with a nice explanation about this things and how to fully utilized it I would be grateful. Has anyone noticed any difference in routing WITH or WITHOUT these files?

    Thank you

    Hi.
    I really don't knowing, but maybe your looking after this: Where to use and also why you have to use it

    iGO Files >>
    Spoiler: content

    --> the directory *\content\building\
    3dl/3dc --> 3D view Landmarks/Building
    petrol.3dl - 3D view of Petrol stations

    --> the directory *\content\dem\

    fsp --> Smart route (about same as hsp files that go in histspeed folder) historical traffic data in relation to time and day of the week. Therefor the route calculation may differ depending on the time of day (to avoid daily traffic jams) (Primo only)
    ftr --> Truck Info
    hnr --> predefined calculated routing for 'short', 'fast', 'easy', 'economical' (Primo only)To use hnr one needs the complete mapset unless you edit the sys.txt:

    Thank you @butter but not that. I know where to put it and what it does but I was wondering for some more advanced explanation like:

    - How does it work
    - How to fully utilize it
    - Is there any big difference with or without those (ROUTING) files (real life experience from some members)
    - Some routing examples WITH or WITHOUT HNR, HSP files

    Thank you for your effort.

    Hi Texas,

    I found this - (In German language )

    TMC Pro ist ein Bezahldienst der Telekom-Tochter T-Systems Traf*fic. Bei den meisten Geräten mit TMC-Pro-Funktion ist die Gebühr mittlerweile mit dem Kaufpreis des Ge*räts abgegolten. TMC Pro ermittelt seine Verkehrs*infos fast ausschließlich aus auto*matischen Sensoren. Etwa aus rund 4000 Sensoren an Autobahn*brücken und 6000 Mess-Schleifen in der Fahrbahn. Außerdem erfassen rund 10 000 Fahrzeuge („Floating Cars“) Daten über den Verkehrsfluss und senden sie an die TMC-Pro-Zentrale. Aber auch Verkehrsinfos der Polizei fließen in die Meldungen ein. Die Daten strahlen private UKW-Radiostationen aus, entsprechend ausgestattete Navigationsgeräte empfangen sie automatisch.
    Vorteil von TMC Pro: Der Dienst meldet auch Stauverlaufs-Ten*denzen. So sagt TMC Pro Staus auch anhand von Verkehrszäh*lungen voraus. Und: Nimmt die Staulänge deutlich ab, empfiehlt TMC Pro keine Umleitung mehr. In einem Praxistest war TMC Pro schneller und präziser als TMC.
    Geräte, die TMC Pro an Bord ha*ben, können auch TMC-Meldungen empfangen. Die meisten Navis mit TMC Pro sind so eingestellt, dass sie die Meldungen aus beiden Diensten benutzen, um vor Staus zu warnen.

    Google translate said:

    TMC is a pay service provided by Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Systems Traf fic *. For most devices with TMC Pro function, the fee has already * chine paid the purchase price of Ge. TMC Pro determines its traffic * info almost entirely of auto * matic sensors. * Approximately bridge from 4,000 sensors on motorway and 6000 measuring loops in the roadway. In addition, around 10 000 vehicles ( "floating cars") collect data on the traffic flow and send them to the TMC-Pro Office. But traffic information the police are included in the messages. The data radiate private FM radio stations, suitably equipped navigation devices receive automatically.
    Advantage of TMC Pro: The service also reports storage course ten * tendencies. So says TMC Pro traffic jams ahead also based on Verkehrszäh * ments. And: If the queue length from clear TMC recommends Pro does not redirect more. In a practical test TMC Pro was faster and more accurate than TMC.
    Devices that TMC Pro * ben aboard ha can also receive TMC messages. Most Navis with TMC Pro are set to use the messages from both services, to warn of traffic jams

    I can share my real life knowledge about driving with these features.

    TMC
    I only started using this recently, since I use my smartphone, my handheld doesn't support TMC in combination with non-original GPS.
    My experience is somewhat ambiguous.
    Most of times traffic events (jams) are not that drastic as announced. I often see (smaller) traffic jams announced in front of me, when arriving there I see nothing. This happens every day and I can not believe the jams are solved every time. In addition, this is mostly the case when the expected delay is 1 or 2 minutes. I wonder where this (wrong) information comes from. Or the information was correct but (much) too late.
    However, I have experienced useful rerouting when accidents happened on my route and the road was blocked or severely clotted. And I must put this in perspective as well, these accidents were then announced on the car radio.
    As a solution so far this helps for me: let Primo reroute when the expected delay is big enough (I have set at +20 minutes)

    Histspeed
    I have experienced this feature a few times in a good way. The known structural and time related traffic jams (so far only experienced on highways) are announced and an alternative is presented in time. The few times I did not accept the alternative, I got stuck

    HNR
    I suppose I do have experience with this, but honestly I can not say exactly what it does. Calculate quicker? Also national? No idea.

    Hope this helps.

    If you have reliable internet connection via cell service, it's best to keep the distance of collecting TMC to small as possible (if you collect 50km worth of data, by the time you get to it the problem could be over) TMC can be from users reporting and they could be *cough* wrong.

    HSP is attempt to use data from user history of driving in order to get more accurate routing. For example, if a street normal speed is 45 but it's under construction so effectively it's only 20 (because that's the speed that it compute when you drove), then routing would know to give more accurate time it will take if that street is choosen.

    HNR uses routes that are more "effective" from major cities; for local routing, I don't think it matter much. But for routing across states/countries it could help. For HNR to work correctly you must have all the relevant states and countries map data and .hnr files.

    Hmmm. i am a bit sceptic, sorry.
    Some weeks ago I passed a certain point within 20-30 minutes. On the way up, no report and no jam. On the way back a reported jam on the same spot. However in reality: no jam! Trustworthy information would mean more than one user reporting. Right?

    I don't think that is the purpose or the accurateness of the maps are that quick renewed. I think what you are describing is more like TMC. Unless the HSP/FSP is renewed often enough and the construction works have a long time to finish. If it are short time works, it would have no use to make changes to HSP/FSP
    I think HSP is more like a certain route is at certain time of day (rush hour) blocked during workdays, not in the weekend. So the route is different depending on the day of the week and the time. This would correspond with my experience (see higher)

    @G-ulash @osiris4isis

    Very useful, now I am getting better picture. It is the best when somebody reports from the field. So I guess to gully utilize HSP for example you check it and avoid RED part of the route or does navi do it automatically. I am trying to figure out how to best utilize it, I guess this can be very useful for some truck drivers.

    Search for a destination and if it is not green do not go there. Or maybe navigation will do it automatically. Same for HNR I guess. I really wonder has anybody noticed big difference in routing WITH and WITHOUT hsp or hnr files because sometimes iGO really sucks at routing.

    Does anybody knows how to activate MORE HIGHWAYS option? I had it long time ago in one of my PRIMOs aside with Green, Short, Economic and Easy I had more highways route option??? Anybody had the same?

    I think it was part of diMKaWA skin, but I hope to add it to normal igo somehow?

    TMC data comes from variety of sources: official and users. Traffic control in your local area uses camera to monitor conditions, look at schedule for constructions, take reports from police and road services. Users can also report such info. It's up to NNG server to processed those data. Different product handles internet TMC differently (ie: Waze)

    HSP are dynamic data not static from map. The construction example showed that "real speed" depends on users experienced/collected data. I never said that the speed didn't depend on other factors such as congestion or based on time of day.

    I can't test HSP because 1) I try to avoid traffic and 2) I drive during off hours (night shift). Various route options are available via default skin. I don't see much different in where I drive so I can't comment on its usefulness.
