Default IGO Primo 2.4 Skins With Trip Data On The Bottom

I'm looking for a skin that has the 'trip details' (distance left, arrival time, etc.) on the bottom of the screen with the speed limit showing in the menu button. I've looked through the skins for IGO Primo 2.4 WINCE that have pictures of them but I cannot seem to find one that I like. I need 800X480 resolution also. Any ideas? Thanks.

You want the Decent skin for Primo 2.4. Does all of what you are looking for. By far the cleanest looking Primo 2.4 skin, in my opinion!

Can you point me in the direction of a download? I'd really appreciate that!

    **EDIT - I found this one -

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

And the download is a .rar. Since it appears that my unit needs .zip, I unzipped it and 'rezipped' it as .zip file. But when I copy either the .rar or the .zip to the \CONTENT\SKIN folder, neither one shows up as a selection when I look in DISPLAY (three other skins I've tried show up there). Any idea what this newbie is doing wrong? Thanks.

You need to un-rar the original .rar file right into the main Primo directory. This skin contains other needed files besides the skin file itself (ux files, font files, etc). So just un-rar the original rar file into the directory where the primo executable live and that will install everything where it needs to be (including the actual skin .zip file, which is in the original .rar file).

    Hope that makes sense! :-)

That was what I was looking for. It seems to be pretty close to what I wanted. I wish there was an 'instruction book' for building skins. I'm a business software developer and would love to be able to customize one to exactly what I want. I've prowled around looking at the files, but don't quite understand the command structure and which file controls what options.

Yeah, I'm a "programmer" of sorts as well - not really a full developer, but I do a LOT of Unix shell scripting and have programmed as a hobby for a while. I will say, skin development is NOT an easy thing though! I've been able to do small modifications as needed (removing battery icons for car use, fix placement of buttons in certain skins, etc), but to fully develop a custom skin or even make any significant changes to another custom skin is really involved. I'm thoroughly impressed by some of the skins users have developed!

Also, there are a lot of "hidden" functions with the Decent skin. Pressing in certain areas to certain things (extreme upper-left corner of screen will mute/unmute navigation instructions, touching speed-limit sign will allow you to "hide" the speedcam database, long-pressing above the trip monitor will reset it, etc, etc, etc). Also, long-pressing in certain area and on certain buttons do alternate functions. You really have to mess around to figure out the features since there really isn't a "manual" for the skin. Also, there are lots of options in the settings menu specifically for the Decent skin. Spend some time messing with it....

Also, there may be "ux" add-ons for some of the features you are looking for. Maybe post what you are looking for and someone may be able to help.

One thing I'd like to see in the Decent skin are "permanent" icons for Home and Work favorites like some other skins have done. Would also like the "split-screen" that some skins have - where you can display the itinery on the right hand side of the screen at all times.

In my opinion, most "custom" skins are just too "cluttered" with icons everywhere, font's that are too big for their "boxes", etc. Just TOO much stuff on the navigation screen... Which is why I really like the Decent skin - nice and clean....

I guess I'm old school, but I like the compass which is on some of the other skins (didn't see it as an 'trip option'). I've got the MC 1.9 (for motorcycles) skin which is really great but it does not work for 800X480 (my new GPS resolution - sys.text parameters don't fix it). I've wondered what it takes to add another 'resolution' to a skin.

I know that you can make is so the Quick Menu button displays a compass instead of the quick menu icon. Not sure if that helps or not...

Not sure I've ever seen the MC skin before - happen to have a link? Might give me a better idea of what you are looking for.

THere is also a UX add-on to display a big compass in "over" the navigation screen (in case that is what you meant).

Honestly, I'm not sure what is involved with adding a resolution to a skin -I'm assuming that it's not trivial though....

I saw the compass. This was actually an option to put it on the trip data bar at the bottom. The MC link is -

    Code:

It has some really great waypoint options and I'm using it on my 480 resolution units. It is a great skin!

Wow - it's amazing how similar that skin looks to the Decent skin! It almost looks like someone took the Decent skin and made improvements to it. It's a shame it's not compatible with 800x480 resolution....
