    Default Android. TTS speech slow and lazy

    Just upgraded to android 4. Installed igo and selected tts voice. Now and then the speech is real slowed down and lazy as if going to sleep. Cant see this being a hardware problem as this is true on three different phones that I tried and applies to different tts engines that I tried. Anyone else have this problem? Never had this problem with my old desire.

    I had that problem for ages and it drove me nuts. Turns out the problem is in the info.ini file inside whichever voice.zip you're using. Edit the info.ini to have:
    tts_rate=100

    and that should sort it out. The voice file lives under Igo\content\voices\

    Thanks Booce I will give that a try and let you know. Puzzled still though why it never did this on my previous phone.

    Just checked the ini files and they already contain tts_rate=100

    I am using the nuance vocalizer engine, I will try out loquendo and svox later.

    Reboot the phone and see if it fixes it.

    Thanks Boocie, Im already using this particular voice. My arm is injured and in a pot so driving is a no no for a few weeks.
    I will test again asap with a different engine. The voice only gets lazy sometimes and not all of the time. Im using vocalizer engine. This I will change.

    I use SVOX and that seems to work fine if you want to give it a try.

    Svox is all that I used on my previous phone however on my new handset - it installs ok but is not selectable in the engine department, theres no sign of it. Theres pico, vocalizer and loquendo but no svox to be seen

    Edit:
    I dont think that svox is supported on android 4.x

    I have the same problem as soon as swithched to KitKat.
    The program after use is still as an active application. Try to deactivate it by presssing the center button.
    That solves the issue

    After upgrading to 4.4 I had the same problem (strangely only with Nuance voices). I tried all kinds of suggestions but this is the solution. Good catch μέρμηγκα!
