Using Winrar 3.93 worked (as you stated) but what's so difficult about editing the *.zip? Just don't extract it, double click on the file inside *.zip and when you save/exit editor, it will ask if you wants to update the *.zip file. So simple!

Default Modding zip file make igo app crash

    Hi i use 9.6.29.431282
My problem is i cant mod ANY zip files. When i do app dont start - crash when load.
I tried mod zip with skins/schemes for better road colors. And its not important if i do any changes to files or not. I tried undoing changes and still crash. I must delete mod zip files from igo folder or copy them from unmod backup. What im missing? i use winrar and 7zip no difference.

My ultimate goal is to mod default map colors from data folder.
    Pls help

Open and work with iGo *.zip files using a WinRar version 4.01 or earlier. To treat the files as a 'normal' zip file (opening with anything and dragging things back and forth) will corrupt them. There may be other programs that work, but WinRar 4.01 or earlier is guaranteed. Do not ever unzip a file and then zip it back up..corruption for sure.

It seems that iGO doesn't like when "extra fields" are added to ZIP file structure.
I was able to use old plain zip.exe (with -X option for removing "extra fields") for updating files in data.zip and even rebuilding data.zip for WinCE NextGen 9.19.2.543580.
    Code:

    Let's imagine that:
    1. You've unpacked zip.exe to C:\zip-3.0-bin\bin\zip.exe.
    2. You've copied data.zip to C:\WORK.
    3. You've unpacked data.zip to C:\WORK\data.zip.unp.
    4. You've opened a command line and the current folder is C:\WORK.

Then you can update data.zip with changed files in data.zip.unp by running
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
And you can rebuild data.zip (and save it to data1.zip, say) from scratch by running
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
Just tested both data.zip's on WinCE NextGen 9.19.2.543580, it loads and displays the map screen.

Of course, you can make batch scripts for speeding up your work

Are you using any tool or application to unpacked data.zip. I suggest you the latest WinRAR 5.4.0. And when packing, the archives you sign a ZIP

    Windows 7/10 file explorer works.
7-zip works as well, and it's free.

With the signing of the ZIP file can be used by any archiver/tool
