    After looking (very briefly) at your logcats, I see a big difference with what I see in the WinCE logs. In the WinCE logs, I can see both what iGo gets from the map files AND what the TTS engine converts it to. It seems you're missing the info that iGo is seeing from the maps (first section) and only seeing what iGo converts it to (the bottom part here). Unless I just missed it in your logs (which is entirely possible).

    For example (a small section from my WinCE log about an upcoming turn) - map file provides "US 1/US 1 NB" and TTS engine converts it to "U S 1 North Bound":

    My point is that I wonder if there is some way to get this "extended" information in Android....

    Didn't have time to look at the posted log yet, sorry I missed your question about it earlier. Please collect again with the following settings to see if you get more log data

    @jtrosky
    I had noticed that you had much more data from your logcat than I did on mine. That's why I was asking if anyone knew the possible values for logcat_level=7 and logcat_oslevel=7. My logcat does not have enough data to help debugging the TTS.

    @osiris4isis
    Your additional lines did not provide any more details than what I published in post#60. No point in doing the 3 routes. I tried the following 3 lines I found with Google
    logcat_debug_subsystems=voice_guidance pluginloader
    logcat_thread=0
    logcat_pid="" ;(null)
    It produced a 350B catlog basically stating logging has stopped.

    I have a gut feeling that using android "built-in" TTS engine instead of Nuance/Vocalizer won't work with the tips given because the API's are different. For me, VocalizerEx has best (realistic) sounding TTS on android, but each to their own.

    OK. I will give VocalizerEx a trial... and report back tomorrow.

    Many thanks to oriris4isis and jtrosky for your help.

    Well, I had few minutes to install and test VocalizerEx with Voice_tts-Pro-Android-Next-Koba-American-Zerdim-V9.361.Ph.zip and it did not provide additional data into the logcat. The only difference I can see with this new TTS is Aut-15 stays as is as on your TTS it gets transformed to State Route 15 (it should be Autoroute 15).

    I think the focus has now changed from "changing Rte-329 to Route 329" to find a way to get decent logcat running iGo under Android & NextGen.

    I'm sure that there is a way to get the info to display in Android - just need to figure it out. Would be *so* nice if there was some formal documentation for all of the sys.txt options!

    I'll look around at some of the Android-specific sys.txt options to see if I can find anything that may help.

    Have you tried setting the log levels to 9? Typically, 1 is least verbose and 9 is more verbose for stuff like that.

    I did not get more details with logcat_level=9 and logcat_Oslevel=9

    @jtrosky

    Obviously, from your location, you must have the USA map. Do you have also the Canada map?
    Do you know if the TTS voice from osiris4isis works on your WinCe iGo (Voice_TTS-nua-eng-us-f1-lua-dri40-vssq5f22.zip)?

    If yes to both questions, would you be kind enough to run a simulation in iGO with logcat On so I can analyse it's content? starting point (Canada, Quebec, Lachute, Route Principale, 1065) ending point (Canada, Quebec, Lachute, Rte-329, 45) and you will hear Samantha say R t e. It's a 15 seconds simulation and it should not take you more than 5 minutes total to perform the procedure. If you do not have the voice, I can send it you.

    I do not like asking but without a proper logcat, this thread will struggle finding a solution. Needless to say that we should continue searching for a solution on how to generate a proper logcat under NextGen and Android. Sooner or later, it will become vital for NextGen/Android users. I think a specific new Thread would be in order as I am sure, many more people would be interested in the topic rather than one labelled "Problems with TS Road Names".

    Please do not feel oblige to comply with my request. I usually wait for people to offer but I think osiris4isis, you and I will be spending much more time figuring out how to generate a decent catlog than performing this procedure.

    Again sorry for asking.

    Absolutely, I will (actually, I offered to do exactly that many posts ago.). :-) Obviously, you'd rather have the capability yourself, but until we can figure out how to get the appropriate data to log in Android (we'll figure it out eventually), it makes sense to at least "do what we have to do" in order get you the information you need to correct the issue you're having.

    I'll also test with some other voices/TTS engines, just to see if any of them do the proper conversion (just out of curiosity).

    I don't think I have the "osiris4isis"-specific version of that voice (Samantha), but I do have the voice. I'll try it with the version of the voice that I already have and go from there. If you could post the osiris4isis-specific version of the voice (or a link to where I can get it), I'd also be glad to test with that version of the voice as well.

    I'll get back to you very soon. Luckily, I have 2DIN radios (Advent OGM-1, Rosen GM1010 and Rosen GM1210) setup in "bench" mode in my home office, so testing this sort of stuff is super easy for me.
