nextgen Greek language and TTS voice

    Hi everybody,

here are my greek language and TTS voice translations. Here's why you should check them out..

    Language file:

Examining existing greek languages versions, I noticed they were about 200 lines short of the other official languages released for iGO Israel. Most (but not all) of these additions were new TMC messages. Since I use iGO Israel Gift, I decided to translate everything, even small stuff that were left untranslated in previous versions, also correcting syntax and grammar in the process.

    Notes / features:
    - Tested only on iGO Israel Gift 9.18.27.658108 (but is probably ok for all NextGen versions so far)
    - Greek qwerty keyboard included
    - No cut or abbreviated words, no capital first letter in every word, no latin question marks
    - Skin support: NONE, just the default
    - UX support: toll_button.zip, mapprovider.zip, tilt_the_map.zip (limited because it has graphical issues)

    Download:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Installation:
Just throw the file in the content/lang directory of your installation (no need to delete other greek language you may have).

    Voice file(s):

I wanted to correct announcement problems with existing greek voices. Problems like not using the correct case in direction, or the handling of abbreviated first names along with the main name in street names (see features below for examples).
The above problems can be universally solved using regular expressions, and that's what I did. Note: there do exist explicit name declarations in the voice files, mainly because Here maps for Greece lack accents, therefore many streets are not pronounced correctly by TTS if using Here maps. Tom Tom maps don't need them, but they are included so the voice file works correctly in both cases.

    Notes / features:
    - Tested only on iGO Israel Gift 9.18.27.658108 (but is probably ok for all NextGen versions so far)
    - VocalizerEx (any voice set in system settings) and Nuance Melina voice (vssq5f22) editions
    - Default speed cameras fully supported
    - Correctly announce street names that have abbreviated first or extra names, before or after main name. Example: street "Παναγούλη" will be announced correctly, no matter if the different map editions have it as "Αλ. Παναγούλη" or "Α. Παναγούλη" or "Παναγούλη Α.". This happens automatically for all streets using regular expressions, without the need to explicitly add every problematic street name.
    - Correctly announce direction: for example, no more "με κατεύθυνση προς Ίασμος", the correct "με κατεύθυνση προς Ίασμο" will be announced. This is corrected for any destination in the country, using regular expressions.

    Installation:
Just throw the file(s) in the content/voice directory of your installation (no need to delete other voices of any language you may have, and you can add both versions so you'll be covered if you change from Nuance to VocalizerEx or vice versa)

    Please report any problems.

    Take care

If you like, you can create your OWN voices from scratch:
    Here is Original LTTS7:

As I say above they are an improvement. Over existing ones. Various existing ones, including yours, but not only. They contain some old transformations that will soon become obsolete, just for the sake of compatibility.

The movement of directions to the directions section (were previously in the streets section and never worked), the correction of grammar and syntax, adding of new strings taken from original files of other languages, and especially the use of some lines of regular expressions for the problems I solve (which noone before had thought of, or even knew how to use), all represent original work for days.

So this IS my own work. But I don't brag about it, it's not nuclear physics, and anybody can do whatever they want with it.

Not only that, if anyone needs, I would be happy to explain some small but very important technical details in the voice files that solve the problems I mention the smart way, instead of adding hundreds of lines (which are remnants and still there until Here maps add accents).

Edit: thanks for the files but I already had them and used them, along with many others, adding, cleaning, changing and throwing away stuff.

Since default Android TTS (text to speech output) doesn't support Greek, you need VocalizezEx or Nuance TTS system and the Greek language for them (common between the systems).

I suggest VocalizerEx as it seems that both iGO and the talking are smoother when the latter is left to the OS.

Yes (1st voice file), or nuance (2nd).
