Default Garmin Zumo 590 - Brightness issue

    Hi

When my Zumo is not in the cradle without external power, the brightness is low, 40%.
In menu there is an option (under screen option, brighness) to increase the value from 40% to 100% but when I do it, it say that only with external power.

In the past I've issues with battery drain. (Now I've a new battery)
If the unit it's always connected to the cradle (most of time) battery is always loading and as I know, this is not good.

I've installed a switch to manage the battery power but, when the unit is in the cradle without external power, the brightness is at 40% and this is not enough to use the gps with security on the motorbike (when sun is shining it's impossible to see nothing).

Do you know if it's possible to change this option to increase the brightness when the unit have no external power?

    Thanks in advance

    Answering myself

Extracted from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] page:

There may be times when you would like to change the screen brightness on your device. Depending on the device, you may need to adjust the saved brightness levels for day mode and night mode and when the device is on the mount and off of the mount for each of these modes.

Some devices will not go above 40% brightness when they have low power. To correct this, plug the device into a power source and follow the instructions below.

    To change the brightness:
    Touch Tools
    Some devices skip this step
    Touch Settings
    Touch Display
    Touch Brightness
Adjust the brightness level according to you preference

    Repeat these steps when desired.
The screen brightness will now be changed.

    I'll try and post results.

There is a fix out there for the low battery issue. If your 590 is giving you the low battery sooner than it should check the pins on the battery connector. In many 590/595s the battery connector pins are making poor contact, by bending them a little a good battery will give the normal run time of about 3 hrs. This fixed my low battery problem.

This is not my fix I'm just passing on the info.

Thx for the info. I'll check battery connector pins.
