    Hi.... You can use both
But only if your build are v. iGO8.3 or iGO Primo/Amigo

"R3" stands for later maps ect.. iGO Europa R3 Maps

And "8.3" stands for iGO 8.3 build "WinCE/Windowsmobile"

But you can also use both in those build

    Have fun

    - Basemap_83_NIMA_2012.03_130122.fbl = 9.308KB
The difference is that the second one is 3 months newer. Always check release date. Also smaller size doesn't mean worse coverage.

Bigger size doesn't mean automatically newer release, or that newer release has to be always bigger than previous!

Same is for all .fbl maps, not only basemap, for ex. there is implemented some new routing in map .fbl file, better compression, diff. technology, etc etc. , however newest release is always recommended to use, it's repeated many times here in NNG section.

R3 or 8.3 many uploaders use it to mention about maps compatible for 8.3+ NNG aps, like iGO 8.3+ , iGO Amigo, iGO Primo, Primo AND, etc. , it means all NNG apps generations after 8.3, including 8.3, use R3 maps, lower use R1, which stop with development longtime ago.
