Actually the cops in my area are very keen on knowing if you are using the phone to talk, text or something else like watching video or GPS nav. If you're in school zone, you can not use it to talk nor text, GPS nav is fine. Texting is illegal everywhere in my area and they know it when you text vs GPS nav. You have to be pretty good or stupid playing with GPS nav on your phone while holding it. One more things that's not mentioned: all android devices are capacitive screen while dedicated GPS are mostly resistive. Since I have Magellan, Mio, TomTom One and Garmin 775 to compare with, routing/planning is much much better (more options) via NNG. And if you still preferred to use proggy provided by dedicated GPS, you can run them on the android device. I often have Navigon, Garmin Street Pilot and TomTom proggy along with NNG on my android.
