    Hi to all!
First of all apologize in case there is already an answer to my problem.

I changed my Garmin 57LM to mass storage and already can see .System folder.
The unit is loaded with official Western Europe map and I want to put him the rest part - Eastern Europe.
Succeeded and downloaded NT 2017.10 and put it on SD card.
Start the unit - Cannot unlock maps. OK, the map is unlocked since it works fine in my old Nuvi 205. Honestly - 205 works better than 57LM but is very old already and has some problem with GPS receiver - not every time finds satellites.
Second - I wrote the map on the unit in .System folder. Renamed it to gmapprom.img ... and again - Cannot unlock maps. Then I returned the official Western Union and everything works fine.

Please, tell me where is my mistake! Do I need to delete / rename another folder and etc.?

    Thank you all in advance!

    Reason: Wrong unlocker
Read:[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    Model: Nuvi 57/58 | HWID: 2087 | SWVS: 440 | MAP: Yes | GMA: Yes | MSV: Weak | GVS: Yes
MSV: Weak - it verifies the validity of map signatures in a simple way,
you can unlock an .img using gimgunlock-0.03+MapSigPatch (without patching your firmware).

    Hi, catymag!

I did that and now with any unlocker the maps are unlocked ... but still when install them on device it says "Cannot unlock maps".
I found that a .gma file in .System folder is some kind of key file. When I remove it - cannot see even original map.
Suppose that this unit checks the maps somehow or somewhere is written what maps to use only ... and thats why doesn't let me to use any other .img files.
I got a 42LM and copied an installed to 55LM map - worked fine!
Also on 205W work fine ... only on 55LM doesn't want

    @DodoV
I guess nuvi 55 is typo, you said you have nuvi 57. As you've been told, your 57 unit has only weak MSV so you can use gimunlock+MapSigPatch to unlock but only for NT maps. As i again guess you have LM EU, ergo the NTU isn't a problem. So because you're getting 'Can't unlock maps' message it's for some other area [NT? Which map? Where dl'ed from?] i also guess therefore that you've used an old outdated unlocker. As catymag previously said, use [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to unlock it. That GMA file is for your LM map, without it that map can't work.

For the record: nüvi 57 officially uses NTU version of the European map. However, stick to the NT version for now, otherwise you would have to patch the FW of your device.

For nüvi 57 you really need to use gimgunlock-0.03+MapSigPatch (without patching your firmware) [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] as mentioned by catymag.

Make sure the latest FW version is loaded in your nüvi 57 (version 4.40, issued June 22, 2016).

    Thank you very much!
Actually the unit is 55LM, not 57 ... my mistake in first post, sorry!
In the beginning was with FW 5.20 but I downgraded to 4.40 as was written in another link and post.
Suppose that is the reason for my issue?!
I'll do now exactly what you had instructed me, thanks!

I have currently in hands a nuvi 3750 (US, HWID 1101, S/W v4.20) and I am trying to put it in mass storage mode (in order to change the maps from USA to EU) but it is impossible to connect it to the PC (Win7, SP1, Ultimate, x64).

    1) I tried (based on my experience from 755, 1450, 1490) to plug it directly in a front (!) USB port [w/the available original(?) Garmin USB cable] Result: It stays in charging mode and works as a normal navigator - fully functional)
    2) I tried the above suggestion of post#1. Notice that I always see the Garmin logo (NO "yellow PC-nuvi connected" picture !!!)
Result: I managed to enter the "Diagnostics Page" but there are only 6 choices: 1. Clear all user data, 2. Shutdown causes, 3. Developer Info, 4. Developer Tests. 5. Diagnoxtic Logging, 6. Demo Mode and no "MTP Settings" choice (?!?) I also checked all the sub-menus but I could not find any "MTP" anywhere

Q1. Is 3750 an MTP device or not? (3750 is a year-2012 model, I believe)
Q2. How can I put it in "mass storage mode"?

I also need to update the s/w (to latest one is 5.10 for 37xx series) but it refuses to be connected to my PC as described above.
For this, I tried to install the Garmin Express v4.3 on the above PC (does it matter it has a x64 version?) and I received the disappointing message:
" Install Failed. Garmin Express could not be installed on this computer. Try installing again." I tried a few more times but was unsuccessful

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Screens are from my 3790 and should be the same in 3750, read OP with care, use volume page to enter Diagnostic menu.

my 37xx is converted as Neil wrote below
