If you want to speak negotiate with device you do not need any maps. Sensis or Navteq AU could suit fine for this SRD files too...

Although my question applies to the Garmin StreetPilot app for iPhone, the actual question is specific to files that are used in the standalone Garmin devices, hence why I posted my question in this forum--

What exactly are the differences between the *.db trafficTrends and *.SID trafficTrends files--besides the fact that the most-recent *.db one is "trafficTrendsv2" and the *.SID one I currently have was included with (CNNA) 2014.40 and is labeled "trafficTrendsv3"? Or to put it another way--do I need both of these files? I ask because the Garmin iPhone app used to have a slider setting for turning trafficTrends on/off, before it somehow mysteriously vanished from the Settings menu due to nothing on my part; I'm trying to see if either or both of these two files are needed to re-enable trafficTrends, assuming that having either/both files will actually make trafficTrends work--I couldn't tell if it was working even when the trafficTrends slider was present and turned on...and I do know that the slider is still not visible even after I had at least copied over the (updated) trafficTrends SID file to my iPhone.

TrafficTrendsv2 is for 37xx series and goes in .System/SQLite, it works only in device internal memory.

I dont know which files uses SP for iPhone, ported SP for Android uses 34xx files version,
SP for Android would need D3406110A.sid (traffic trends v3) for 34xx&25xx goes in .System/SID, but not sure this feature works in this ported app, not tested sorry.

catymag--no worries! FWIW--I wonder sometimes if trafficTrends is actually working or doing something when it comes to suggesting best routes; every once in a while for grins I will set a destination to go home from my work (typically driven during the afternoon hours); I take the same route every time regardless of whether or not I use the Garmin. Anyways, I get off the freeway at this one particular exit (which takes me to a surface street that has no Garmin traffic coverage) but Garmin always tells me to take the next exit (also takes me to a surface street that has no Garmin traffic coverage) which is less than a mile away, no matter how many different times I plot the exact same trip from work to home...except yesterday when I tried it after having copied over the trafficTrends SID file (after clean Garmin app install I had to do recently due to my having screwed it up playing around with some more plist files) it told me to take the freeway exit that I normally take; there was no indication of traffic being reported by Garmin between that exit and the other one that Garmin was telling me to take in the past, so I can't think of any other reason why this time around Garmin would tell me to take a different (i.e., normal exit for me) exit, other than perhaps trafficTrends? Who knows...

I disabled it in my nuvi, it increases greatly routes calculation time and it suggests weird routes.

    Hi Everyone,

I'm not sure if this has been answered before on this tread, so excuse me if it has..

Do I have to create a specific file structure in order to move my map .img files to the SD card on a Nuvi40 GPS, or is it enough to create a /MAP folder and move everything to it?

    Thx!

On my Garmin 3590LMT getting to the system folder was a lot more complicated. You have to get unit into Mass Storage mode first, then the windows folders settings work. From your main screen go into your master volume screen and touch and hold the top right corner of the screen. After about 5 to 10 seconds you will get the diagnostic page. Scroll down to and select MTP settings. Check Mass Storage then save and exit all the way out. You now have access to the missing folders. Wish I knew this before I did my first map update to 2015.10 as I would have liked to save the original 2014.10 maps since they still worked with my City Xplorer files. It seems that any later maps will not support the CityXplorers, pity.

    On a Nuvi 2555LMT,

Do I put the gmapprom.img, gmap3d.img in folder under microSDCARD>Map? I don't have the unit with me to test until I actually plug it into the buddy's gps

The traffic speedcam files goes into microSDCARD>Garmin\POI ?

Also for this unit, does it support 3d buildings and is it true that it has no support for 16gb cards?
