    As far as i know all reasonably modern units, even those using fw several versions back, run into the gma protection with map/family ID 2200 or more. Maybe some ancient units aren't affected, same as software like GMXT. Personally, i always update fw from gupdate.gcd on sd card or use an rgn file with updater.exe. If you're concerned about your unit possibly being 'browsed' by the server using WebUpdater or MyDashboard that just means Kiwis are as paranoid as Aussies.

    Hi.
    Want to make a copy from an original micro cd image. Map id 4550
    Used FUI and Gimgunlock, none of them worked on Gps unit Astro 320.
    Map is ok using BaseCamp with Gmapsupp unl. file included.
    Fui and Gimgunlock on an other micro cd image map id 4548 , works well on Gps unit and in Basecamp.
    Think garmin has done som mod on GMA-fil on card.

    Gimgunlock , unlock every map usually ,except ,obviously encrypted ones (must decrypt them first, if it's possible) and a couple of them like Bashkortostan Route and PL Topo.
    Which map had FID 4550?
    If map is unlocked with gimgunlock you must remove previous version .unl and .gma.

    Edit : Got it :is Topo Premium - 5 Hardangervidda FID 4550
    Np to unlock it with gimgunlock

    Hi Catymag.
    Norway topo premium Hardangervidda has FID 4550.
    Norway topo premium Oslo has FID 4548.
    I used the original img , and drag it over to gimgunlock.
    Only Gmapsupp img. was in the Garmin katalog on Micro sd card.
    My be i need å program to encrypt map?

    Having read all of the above posts, I cannot see that my situation has been explained.

    I have several maps installed and in Mapsource they are all unlocked. They load to my device without a problem either. However in Training Center they are shown as Unauthenticated and display BaseMap detail only.

    I don't understand how the maps can be unlocked AND unauthenticated. Any clues?
