I am assuming you are referring to my how-to when you say this? If that is the case, then you didn't read the part where I said, "My solution is below, and eliminates the need to use the Jetmouse Keygen, does not require patched Mapsource executables, and strips out GMA authentication." Needless to say I am well aware that you can bypass GMA using a patched Mapsource, but a patched EXE is a solution that I do not like and prefer not to use, mostly because you cannot upgrade the software unless a patch is written for the new version. So I wrote a solution that doesn't require a patched EXE.

Talking Garmin GMA protection and "Unauthenticated" status

This tutorial assumes use of an unpatched Mapinstall, which limits transfers to the GPS or SD cards. There is a patch for MapInstall (see notes below) that removes this limitation.

    1. Install [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. This is a legal method of getting Mapsource on to the computer without buying a map set.
    2. Install [URL="http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209"]MapSource[/URL
I believe if you unpack the Mapsource first, then run the .msi file instead of setup.exe, you do not need to install the Training Center.

Just to point out, with Mapsource discontinued I moved to Basecamp, which includes MapInstall and doesn't require a previous version to install.

Yes sure, btw adress search in Basecamp is terrible, it never find anything in City Navigators eg. You must know the zone where the adress is located and begin your search from there or it will fail, not so useful .

Are you sure you're not using an old version of Basecamp? Just now I searched for an address I have stored in my Outlook address book in Basecamp. Searching for the address was performed in much the same way as on the GPS itself (City and State, then House Number and Street Name). With the search, I received six possible answers, with my desired address on the top of the list. This was on the copy of 2012.20 stored on the PC.

How does your experience differ from mine?

Default GMA issue on the Montana 600

As you all have confirmed, it seems older and unlocked maps are loading onto these new Garmins (just got a Montana) but Maps with ids newer than 2200 get the Authenticate error. I tried using the app mentioned in this thread, "Unlock_Mapset.exe", and though you need to run it for each Mapsource product, it does appear to work! I ran a test with the City Navigator 2012.20 (For which I have a lifetime subscription) loading just two map segments, and they worked! Trying a larger set now. In addition, the new Garmin Bluechart G2 Vision chart works.

"With a patched Basecamp you can transfer the map (*.img) to your pc disk, then unlock it with Fast IMG Unlocker, then copy it in your gps"
Basecamp shows the maps on my device. How do I transfer the *.img to my PC?
I select the map, but Edit/SendTo is greyed out. Thanks for any hints.

I believe that is a typo on the part of the person who wrote that. Send To in Basecamp I believe only is for waypoints and routes, but since I don't have a device that supports either I cannot confirm that. You need MapInstall, which is installed with Basecamp, to transfer maps. In [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] I provide a link to a version of the MapInstall EXE that allows maps to be sent to any drive.
