BaseCamp can see locked or unlocked map .img files with 'anyname' in either a Garmin or Map root folder. Your Oregon however can only see locked maps which have either been officially purchased for the specific device or IMG files that have been properly unlocked with <any_name>.img in the Garmin folder [directory]. Going by your info it seems that either the img isn't properly unlocked or it's not in the Garmin folder. If the path is x:\Garmin\*.img then check in GMapTool that it's properly unlocked or just run latest [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] on it again.

Check if you img is properly unlocked with Gmaptool.
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
Drag the img in its window and hit Details.
Basecamp sees locked maps, so the Basecamp test is not important to understand if the img is unlocked properly.
I tested unlocked Topo Spain v5 unlocked in my Oregon 600, no problem, it works fine.

Ok. So I've now used gmaptool to test both TOPO Spain V5 and TOPO UK & I V4 light (also now downloaded) in "details" as requested and gmaptool shows them as unlocked. This is in the Garmin Directory folder on my PC. However when I now open Basecamp and click on "Manage Map Products" under "Maps" they are not visible. Have also tried putting files in the "maps" folder of the Basecamp directory obviously with no joy. Is there some other file that should be in the Garmin folder? This is beginning to drive me nuts......!

Maps in Basecamp are visible in dropdown top menu "Maps" if the map has been installed by a pc installer, that's not available for topo Spain on forum yet.
To check which maps are correctly installed in your Basecamp or Mapsource you can run this:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

If you want to look at an img in BC you must have it in your plugged gps sd in a Garmin directory or in a virtual device as described here:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
in this case you must select the map in My Collection side bar on the left in BC.
To see an img in BC it must have the MS flag set to 0: see [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

But all this has nothing to do with the fact your topo Spain is locked in gps.
When gimgunlock+mapsigpatch was unlocking topo Spain in my pc it hanged for a while unlocking a big tile file. Be sure not to close it before it has finished completely its work, it can happen just one map tile is not properly unlocked and the whole img will result locked.
For further doubts take a look at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Almost all i know and learnt in this forum is there.

Thank you catymag for your continuing help. The TOPO UK map is now working but even following all your instructions I can't get Spain to work.

Firstly fyi the links for TOPO Espania 5 PRO by P33dro, both locked and unlocked do not seem to work. I downloaded the map from kenta2's thread. Kenta2's link for unlocking also no longer works. Unzipped it, used gimgunlock+magsigpatch to unlock it and gmaptool, as instructed, to make it visible still without success. Basecamp still doesn't see it. The display batch file you suggested in your thread doesn't see it either so does this mean that kenta2's map is faulty or that it is still not unlocking properly? I don't see what else I can do.

Once again thanks for all your help.

As said Topo Spain uploaded by kenta2 is an .img so it's not installed in your pc so the batch cannot see it.

kenta2 gmapsupp.img is the same I have in my O600 so it's not faulty.
You must wait it loads from your gps, BC is slow in loading maps from devices.
You can see a green line when loading (see in my pic below Topo Germany map loading for example) when it has finished loading right click&select Topo Spain.

Topo Spain loaded from my O600 in BC:

Finally it works. I like to think I'm fairly computer literate but this has been frustrating. Thank you again for your time and patience.

And I thought I was winning! Have tried to upgrade to TOPO Spain V6 by Kenta2 and after several hours and noting all the above advice in previous threads I still cannot get gimgunlock -0.03 + MapSig Patch (latest version) to unlock it and be seen on Oregon650. Has anyone else had success? Also when looking at the associated unzipped .db folder GMapTool says there are errors in the file. Has anyone else been successful in making it work and if so how.
PS Have read all relevant tutorials before anyone asks!

Crewman Topo Spain pro v6 unlocked by gimgunlock+mapsigpatch and db work fine in my O6x0.
Use winrar 5.40 to uncompress the files, drag the .img in gimgunlock icon then copy the .img in a Garmin folder in sd along its .db, don't add any .unl file.
Check Map list if it shows up.
