Works the same way. Just drop the .img files in the GARMIN folder.

    Map Naming convention?
"new Garmin GPS devices can save maps with different names"
Can I now rename any *.img file to any name and have unlimited maps on my Garmin (SD, Oregon).
And select them with Setup/Map/SelectMap..?Do I have to change the corresponding *.unl files? Or does this only work with unlocked maps?
We dont need Mapsource any more; but use BaseCamp plus MapInstall. Any reason to keep Mapsource?

I moved here your post, it was off topic in the previous thread about posting original maps-
.unl works with any map if FID is smaller than 2200, otherwise it wont and you have to use gimgunlock.
Old advanced users still prefer Mapsource in some cases, for example in searching addresses on maps.

    Hi

Which version did you download ? .exe file ? .gmap folder ? .img file ?
If it's an .img file, just create a Garmin folder on your SD card and copy .img file in Garmin folder.

Hi, firstly I'm a newbie so please bear with me. Have just bought an Oregon 650. Have downloaded a Spain TOPO v5 .img map and have tried to use gimgunlock-0.03+mapsigpatch to unlock. Have put on micro sim card (fat32) in garmin folder but device still says can't unlock map. Is this because it needs a .gma file and if so what can I do about it? Any help very grateful.

No it's because you haven't unlocked it properly, or you used an old gimgunlock version.

Thanks for your reply catymag. I still can't get the Oregon to read the .img file. As I mentioned before I'm using gimgunlock-0.03+mapsigpatch to unlock and, as far as I can see, this is the latest version. It appears to unlock the file but when I place the card in the device nothing. Any other suggestions?
