In march I flashed nuvi 34xx (GCD File) software version 6.20 from 4.80, may be it stopped working with the new firmware.
Predictive Ephemeris Age doesnt show in satellite page ,with colors in gps signal bar, since that update.

Mapupdater downloads files needed for 34xx you dont have to change anything, you can check downloaded files in Mapupdater setuplog on your pc . In 7 is in C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Map Update\setuplog.txt

Read this post n13 linked below: be sure to have all the files needed and space enough for webupdater to install all the needed files in nuvi, sometimes some are not installed for lack of space. Check the files in your nuvi.

When you transform a 37xx to 34xx you need to install:
-- "34xx specific" ASR files (*.srd) via Webupdater (once)
-- "34xx specific" TTS Voices via Webupdater (once)
-- "map specific" ASR files (*.asr and *.srx) via Garminmapupdater (everytime the map is updated)
-- choose (enable in nuvi) the right TTS Voice for the right map

There is no need to rename anything, Garmin program do the right thing for you and download the right files, because they "see" your "tranformed 37xx" as 3490

Got me a bit confused though, I have a Nuvi 3790T with built in North America maps, and I plan to install the 2011 Europe and 2011 Middle East maps, but I see some people around the forum saying that maps have 2 versions, a MapSource version and a regular version, according to some posts, the regular version will lose the map preview and some search/index capabilities, how true is this?

Since I'll be using the JCV and 3D files, does the latest MapSource support Lane Assist and Junction View files? Or am I going to have to move those manually to the device?

One last thing, after looking through my device, the following files "gmapbmap, gmapdem, gmaptz, gmapprom, gmap3d, gmap3d.sum, gmapbmap.sum, gmapdem.sum, gmaptz.sum, gmapprom.sum" are located in a hidden folder "F:\.System". I assume that in the case I use Map Source to install the maps, it will take care of putting them in the right location, but what if I had to move the maps manually, should I put them in the same hidden folder "F:\.System" or should I just go with the Garmin folder? Please let me know if I'll be losing the Map Preview and Searching if I move an unlocked map manually.

Thanks a lot in advance, really appreciate the help I'm getting.
My problem is the reverse. I have a nuvi 3490 with Europe LTM. The European maps and JCV are being updated regularly by Garmin. I also purchased North America NT and installed it on an SD card. Map was purchased online and downloaded to the Card, but only the map file was provided, no 3d buildings or JCV. Please advice how I can add the supporting files to the sd card. Thanks.

    @ suger4spice

    Structure tipical for SD:

    SD
    _|_Garmin
    ____ |_gmap3d1.img (rename file original gmap3d.img)
____ |_gmap3d1.unl (if locked or unlocked file gmap3d.img with gimgunlock r.0.3)
    ____ |__JCV (folder)
    ________|_DxxxxxxA.JCV

    Bye,bye

Why did you download the map on a SD card and didn't connect your 3490. As soon as there wan no more available space on 3490, it would ask you to insert an empty microSD card to finish installation.

On your SDcard, inside GARMIN folder, copy GarminDevice.xml file from your Device:/Garmin/ folder.
Insert the SD card in a card-reader and try to update the map with GarminMapUpdater.
I hope that the program will "see" your card as your "3490" and download the map and all the additional files that are specific for your 3490.

My only thought is that, the map is maybe lock with your SDcard id number, and if the card is less than 4 Gb, maybe you get an error response.
