    this and more here
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Gmaptool splitted .IMGs dont have search enabled:Gmaptool can create a Mapsource version starting from an .img map file, but these Gmaptool MS installations dont have search enabled because Gmaptool cant decode Mapsource address index in .img.(MDR subfile)
If you have original Garmin Mapsource installations made .IMGs instead, you can join them with Gmaptool ,like wrote in starting post and have search enabled because Mapsource imported correctly MDR files in the selected .IMGs.
Every JCV file is associated by its MAPID to its related .img, so it will work if the MAPID is the same in JCV and in .img.

    Hi,

You can merge all maps you want : the only limit is that the resulting .img file can't be over 4 Gb to be read by your GPS.

Does the 4Gb max size restriction also apply to Basecamp?

The 4 GB limit results from the FAT32 format of the memory card.

Thanks, there must be some other reason why it doesn’t work then. I am trying to join some of the new GB Ordnance Survey maps:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
GMapTool creates an .img file, but Basecamp doesn’t read it and I get the following warning multiple times:
== Warning: repeated map ID number.
I wonder whether that is because the maps overlap. Does anyone know how I can join these files?

Yes you have overlapping tiles, there are some tiles with the same MapId.
Resulting .img, even if you remove overlapping tiles, would exceed 4 Gb, so not possible to use in GPS and to be displayed from SD in Basecamp.

Default Convert .img map with contours with Gmaptool at Mapsource format (using Basecamp)

Convert .img map with contours with Gmaptool at Mapsource format (using Basecamp).

1.- You must have previously installed cGPSMapper
2.- The output directory must be empty !!!!
3.- Run as Administrator !!! the program “Gmaptool”

If you follow the original instructions to convert:
The tracks created with BaseCamp using the converted gmap-mapsource, have no heights.

    TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

    1.- Use the program: GmapTool
2.- Put the program location “MapSetTool”

    3.-In the tab "SPLIT":

    Check:
Place the adequate “output directory” ……. for example (O: \ Garmin \ Maps)
Place the adequate “Name Mapset” ……….
Mark the checkbox: ”Compile preview map”
Mark the checkbox: “Set mapset FID” + place the adequate “FID” and “PID”
(put the original value for FID and PID => “1”)

And additionally to mark the checkboxes:
    - "Add empty DEM"
    - "Create TDB v3 When possible"

If you do not mark the boxes, the heights doesn’t work.

    3.- Click "Split selected" button

4.- And run "install.bat" in the directory where the program GmapTool has created the .bat file
