You must load [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to enter Mass Storage Mode to remove the bad files or re-format. Some reading:
    • The same basic info applies to all Garmin MSM devices although this is for nuvi devices: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
    • To enter preboot mode on your GPSMAP 62 see here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
    • Check your HWID so you use the correct firmware for Cure3: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
    • If you need further help after reading the 'step by step' see here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Neil, thanks for the info but it won´t get unit ID when using g7ToWin. Instead it shows a message "failed getting USB handle".
Any other method to get the unit HWID so to use the correct firmware?
    thanks

That message means the device isn't in preboot. There are other methods to find the HWID, if you have a files system backup look at the GarminDevice.xml found in Garmin folder. See: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

You are going to need preboot mode to flash the Cure3 firmware anyway, so you need to be able be able to find it. Some devices only stay in preboot for a matter of seconds so you must be quick. From the link i gave you for 62:
    1. Turn off the navigator.
    2. Hold down arrow "up"
    3. Turn navigator on holding the arrow "up"
Note: You can also hold down "Enter".

Many devices in preboot only show the logo screen. Some will have 'SYSTEM' in small print. All healthy [not bricked] devices in preboot which don't receive a flash, including those that don't show anything, eventually [after some seconds, even up to a minute] will go to another screen always, but a bricked device is a pain because there's often no difference in appearance on the screen to show their state. It's only if they are connected to Updater.exe or G7ToWin in preboot that we can know for sure.

You need to persevere because if you can't attain preboot you can't use Updater.exe and can't load cure firmware. First things first: Go to that link i gave above [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and list here everything it asks as to the history before and after it bricked. Meanwhile keep trying to get it recognized by G7ToWin.
