Default Bricked Nüvi 2597LTM after flashing to patched firmware... No more touchscreen !

Hello Everybody, it's my first post here...

For 2 days now I tried to add to my Nuvi2597 some extra maps, but I always had the "Cannot unlock maps" when I boot. Si I decided to flash my firmware, what I did, but from there when the device reboot I cannot use my touchscreen... I have first to agree with the caution message, but no reaction of the pression I make on the "Agree" button. After a while, the standard menu appears, but nothing react when I press the screen. The problem is that with this touchscreen problem I cannot start in preboot node again tu try to restore... Now I just can boot but not use the device.

Here the info as described in the sticky post
    1) Bricked device MODEL, Firmware version, HWID.
    Nuvi2597, FW 840, HWID 2077

    2) Why and how the device got bricked.
After flashing with a RGN file that I created following this tuto : [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    3) Symptoms: what's wrong in your device?
No touchscreen. Everything seems OK but I cannot test it. It boots, after a while comes on the standard menu, but no reaction when I press the screen.

    4) Does your pc sees your device ?
    Yes

    5) List all the procedures you already tried to unbrick it and their results and errors messages obtained.
Tried to launch the updater but as my device is not in mass storage mode (yellow icon on screen) and that touchscreen problem let me not press upper left corner to boot I cannot upgrade again.

    6) Do you have Garmin USB Drivers installed ? Garmin: USB Drivers Updates & Downloads
    Yes
    7) If you don't know HWID get it by Use program G7ToWin to retrieve your HWID
    known : 2077

    8) Write down if you already read or tried GarminCure3 tool - the new way to create cure firmwares for Garmin devices
How to unbrick a nüvi - step by step guide
Not used because I cannot put mydevice into pre-boot mode...

    9) Can you reach preboot mode? If no ,have you followed this? Garmin Updater.exe v.2.8.0
Every procedure s linked to a manipulation with the touchscreen so I could not reach this mode.

    10) Probably no , but do you have NV backup?
I backuped every file from Mass Storage Mode before trying to update. It this availale ?

    11) Once you get a reply and a procedure to follow from our experts, please give an accurate reply about what you did and obtained results.

Si thanks a lot for your help !!

Are you absolutely certain that your device is the C4 version of 2597 which does indeed have HWID 2077. There is another 2xx7/8 version with HWID 1582 including 2597. How did you determine the unit's HWID before you flashed 2077 fw to it?

If pc sees it, download the original firmware and flash it by Webupdater.
As Neil said, be sure firmware has the right HWID.
Ps. The tutorial at the beginning recommends before flashing the patched firmware to backup nuvi's Non Vol memory!! Sadly almost nobody does

Hi, I spend quite a long time to determine that I had a C4 version. I found that my SW version (in the XML file) was 840 and it's the version of the C4. The non C4 is 530 as I saw... So based on that I supposed I have a C4 device... Wrong ?
The HWID has also been extracted from XML file :
    -<Model>

    <PartNumber>006-B2077-00</PartNumber>

    <SoftwareVersion>840</SoftwareVersion>

    <Description>nüvi 2597</Description>

    </Model>

All the files have been saved (I have connected in mass storage mode to do that) in my computer.

I tried, and through webupdater everything seems OK (success message for upgrading to 840 version) but when I start the device again still no touchscreen...

Yes, this is why i asked if epfyffer was certain his HWID was previously 2077 because a force-flash of wrong firmware will often result in a non-responsive screen. But before we try to fix via SD text commands, we must be sure that it was HWID 1582 originally and flashed with 2077 fw. He seems confident that it was HWID 2077 previously, but ...?

    @epfyffer
You said you had a backup of files before update. Did you look in your backup to check original HWID?
I backuped every file from Mass Storage Mode before trying to update.
Check in your backup's Garmin folder for GarminDevice.xml and look near the start for "<PartNumber>006-Bxxxx-00</PartNumber>" the 4 numerals represented by 'xxxx' show the HWID.

    Hi,

Sorry for the delay I had a heavy week-end ! So just to precise, the XML code that I give to you came from the backuped files, initially I was in 2077 version.

I just went to the shop to ask them and they changed my device without any question this saturday ! So in fact now I have to start again with my new device. I checked again in my XML (the new one) and it's again a 2077 device. So can I just start again as I did or is something wrong in my way of doing ?

Thanks for your assistance guys !
