    Looking for firmware nuvi 1690. I tried gawisp.com and many other forums. Couldnt find. If anyone has it, share it, please

    I found the firmware. Tried to get GPS ID through G7ToWin. It fails to get USB handle. In configuration I got USB option checked and in preboot mode. Garmin usb drivers are installed.

    Click thru that error message and you'll still get the info. If the unit's not bricked you can find the info other ways or look at a backup: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    its bricked on the logo garmin. I press through ok, nothing happens

    These units don't stay in preboot for long. You need to have G7ToWin already open and THEN put the device into preboot, then immediately select 'GPS'>'Get GPS ID'. It does work:

    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    HWID of 1156 means my nuvi 1690 is an AU localized device.
