    Hello,
I was trying to repatch my Nuvi 2547 after recent update to 8.50

I have successfully created the rgn using the gupdate file from the device. When trying to flash i get this error.
    [IMG]25gh4za[/IMG]

    How can this be solved?

    Best Regards
    Sid

Had you already updated to V8.5 using original GUPDATE.GCD? If so, yes you do again need to flash patched fw as RGN using Updater.exe, but if you didn't flash original you can simply update directly using the patched GCD.

2xx7/8/9 are difficult to flash in preboot, you need to be very quick to initiate the flash. Try another USB cable and PC port, rear only no hub.

    Hi Neil,
    Thanks for the reply.
I did update it with Garmin Express. was this bad move?

    Then,
    1. I moved the gupdate.gcd to HD of my laptop and tried to patch create RGN whcih as I wrote above worked fine.

But when I tried to enter system mode by holding the screen top left corned and plug usb cable, it briefly goes it system mode and I see the device in updater window, at this instant i click ok, previously it used to start copying the file now I get above error.

So do think it is still do with FW number issues?

Can you suggest me a FW for Nuvi 2547 (HW 006-B2077-00)

    Best Regards
    Sid

    Clear Non Vol,
    flash Neil's files for sd,
    clear Non Vol again,
download the newest firmware from Garmin,
patch it with the patcher and put the patched gupdate.gcd in a sd in a Garmin folder,
plug the sd in your nuvi to update the firmware to the latest (patched),
    clear Non Vol again.
    Done.

    @DodoV
    Some points:

    • You are using old firmware V4.40 unnecessarily. Latest for 55/56 is V5.40. There is no need to downgrade if you're patching fw, the downgrade kludge was a workaround to use unlocked NT maps in those units. Your OEM map is LM, EU NTU anyway. If you're now wanting to use an NT for some other area [NA, AU/NZ, SAm etc] they will work unlocked with V4.40 or 4.50 fw.
    • You appear to be running Updater.exe from within the .System folder of the nuvi itself. Don't try to do that. It's impossible at the same time to both have the device in preboot and be able see the Update.exe and RGN file in Mass Storage Mode regardless.
    • The message simply means that Updater hasn't found or loaded the RGN file ready to flash.
    • If you are absolutely sure that you have HWID 1697 and it's a 55 [not a 57, as you first said in another thread] then there is an SD card flash pack for V5.40 1697 in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] of this thread. That will upgrade it to V5.40 patched fw and also give you a backup of NV in case you've not already done it.

Delete those foreign files from the nuvi's .System folder first before doing anything further whether in preboot or with SD. Then clear NV, both before flashing and again afterwards. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Create a folder in your PC not in nuvi.
Put in that folder the Updater.exe and the patched firmware, drag&drop the patched .rgn in Updater icon, put nuvi in preboot and flash the .rgn.
Remove from Nuvi all these files (patcher, Updater.exe,*.rgn .*gcd etc) may be read again with care instructions in OP.

    Hello Catymag,
Thanks for the instruction, I flashed back 8.40 using Neil's files.
