I followed the procedure to patch my DriveSmart 50 when it had 3.50 software and it all worked well. After updating the software to 4.10 it kept showing the unlocked maps without any issue. Now I had done a factory reset on the device and it won't show the unlocked maps anymore. Apparently I need to do the patch procedure again but the list for the patcher supported devices lists 4.50 as the last software not 4.10 and I am afraid that I might brick the device if I patch it although the patch did not affect the device after updating it.

Any ideas or advises are appreciated.

Normal, NV keeps the info the map was unlocked, but after reset the info has been cleared and it shows up the locked map message.

Yes you have to repeat the procedure. If the patcher gives you success message no problem with fw h**p://download.garmin.com/software/DriveandDriveSmart40_50_410.gcd that is the latest released.

    The latest in list is: D&D Smart 40/50 | HWID: 2267 | SWVS: 350 | MAP: Yes | GMA: Yes | MSV: Strong | GVS: Yes | File: DriveandDriveSmart40_50_350.gcd
The list has been updated on 12-9, so the latest fw are not in the list yet.

    Hi all.
I'd like to flash DriveTrack 70 firmware version 3.60 with firmware patcher.
I'm sure HWID is 2268 and should use DriveandDriveSmart60_70_410.gcd.

Updater shows "The update was successful".
But DriveTrack still shows "SOFTWARE LOADING..." and it looks freeze.
So I unplugged USB cable, and done factory reset.
But firmware is still 3.60 and can't unlock maps.

I updated DriveTrack firmware 3.60 to 4.10 by using Garmin Express and try again.
    But situation is same.
Firmware is 4.10 this time and can't unlock maps.

    I have done flash my eTrex20x, GPSMAP64s, and ASTRO430.
    They were all successful.
I carefully read Troubleshooting many times.

Does anybody here kindly give me advice?

G'day yellowmonkey, welcome to GPS Power. I moved your post here from the software version thread.

Please read the 2 posts immediately above, yours is a similar device and you'll need to flash patched firmware as an RGN file using Updater.exe in preboot. You cannot use a GCD file successfully for the initial flash because your device has 'GSV: Yes'. Once you've patched it, you can do subsequent fw updates by patched GCD but if you update with GarminExpress it'll again load original/unpatched firmware and you'll have to do it again in preboot. For more information read the initial post carefully.

Sorry, My explanation was not enough.

I didn't use GCD file for flash.
I droped the DriveandDriveSmart60_70_410.gcd in patcher window, and patcher provide DriveandDriveSmart60_70_410_Patched.gcd.
I dropped it in RGN_Tool and get DriveandDriveSmart60_70_410_Patched.rgn.
    I renamed it to 226801000410.rgn.
Because HWID is 2268 and FW version is 4.10.
I tried 22680100411.rgn also when I adjust firmware version using patcher.

    Is there any misunderstand?

No, you've misunderstood nothing as that seems correct 100%. But no need to adjust fw version in patcher when you're using RGN, can't hurt though.

    Try this:
    Spoiler:
    • Extract this file directly to a CLEAN microSD card and insert it into your device with it turned off: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    • Turn it on, connect it to a power source if the battery is low
    • 'Loader', then 'Software Loading' should appear on the screen, wait for it to finish and reboot, it might take a few minutes
    • If it successfully reboots, remove the card, and look in the root as there should be a new file named 'BUP_154.bin' which is your NV backup so keep it safe for the life of your device
    • Your device should now be successfully patched and accept unlocked maps.

Warning to others: This is for use by HWID 2268 devices Drive/DriveSmart/DriveTrack 60/70 devices ONLY. Do not use for any other devices. Do not modify it unless you know exactly what you're doing as use of an incompatible Ldr.bin can irretrievably BRICK your device.

Thank you Neil, I got a NV backup.
    But situation is still same.

I say just to make sure that the map is what I made.
Other patched device(eTrex20x, gpsmap64s, ASTRO430) can show that map.
So I think this is not a problem of map.

Have you removed any gupdate.gcd from nuvi before flashing the patched firmware?

    Yes I have.
I removed it from .system folder before flashing.

I'm troubled for another one week...
