    Latest firmware for 53/55/56 HWID 1697 is V5.40. Here is patched SD pack for it. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] both before and after flashing.

    Spoiler:
    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Follow the generic instructions in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. As always, be aware all care was taken in preparation but all risk and responsibility in use is yours. Backup of NV region 154 is included, look in the root of microSD for 154_backup.bin after flash and keep it forever.

    WARNING TO OTHER USERS: This pack is for HWID 1697 nuvi 53/55/56 devices ONLY. Do not modify it for use in other devices unless you know exactly what you're doing as you can very easily HARD-BRICK your device using a wrong BIN or HWID.

    @inthebar
    Easy solution is to use the V8.3 SD flash pack from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] then patch the GCD for V8.50 and add it to .System or drag onto WebUpdater but for safety, add it to a Garmin folder in clean card and update to V8.5 that way. Don't forget to remove gupdate.gcd if present in .System before using the SD pack and hard reset or clear nonvol before and after each fw change.
    PS: Nice nick, have one for me.

    Here is SD pack for both HWIDs of 25x9, 1758 and 1947 [C4]. The unit will only flash from the folder matching it's HWID:
    Spoiler:
    Patched V8.50: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Read instructions in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Read very carefully please and usual disclaimers also apply [all risk assumed by the user].

    Warning for other users: The above pack is for patching 25x9 ONLY. Do not modify it for another device unless you are sure exactly what you are doing. Flashing an incorrect Ldr.bin [boot.bin] can hard-brick your device, perhaps permanently!

    @cbvasoft
    If you fail, try again.

    [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    1. Be sure to remove the old firmware file from the folder .System /GUPDATE.GCD
    2. format the SD-card
    3. unpack archive and place the Garmin folder on an empty Sd-card
    4. Switch off your device
    5. insert the SD-card into the device slot
    6. turn on the device
    7. After rebooting the device, switch off and remove the SD-card
    8. make cleaning NonVol
