Thank you very much for your help. Although I was quite happy with classical "Browse" button, I told prohibited option because, according to the developer, it should work.

No luck to transfer the patched rgn file at updater.exe in my Nuvi 2589. Following those steps, but when the Nuvi screen say "loading" but missing the word "Success"

I try to copy directly the patched gcd file at the.System, nothing happen.

It is certainly a failure in fw loading process: you are safe of to hold the upper left corner untill the flashing process is finished?

It is normal that happen. The first installation of the patcher fw in some units like yours, have to be at pre-boot ..

The process hasn't finished because it's not in preboot:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Therefore it hasn't been flashed.

Easy way to put most devices into preboot [provided they aren't bricked] is to hold the battery symbol for ~6 seconds to enter a hidden menu. Then connect by usb, the unit will stay in preboot as long as it's connected to the pc. Drag the rgn file onto Updater.exe and device's details will appear in the window next to 'USB Device'.

My suggestion: use another USB port, if not solve another cable and repeat the process. Important: initialize the Updater.exe as administrator..

    @fireman7
Is your patched .rgn in the same directory of Updater.exe?

    Hello guys, noob here.

I reached point 4 and 5 and don't want to move forward until I understand this correctly.
    4) Copy the patcher in a directory along your firmware gupdate.gcd:
What directory? Shall I create a folder on the PC, put gupdate.gcd in it along with the patcher files (4 files)?

    5) Drop the gupdate.gcd in its window. The patcher will provide the patched gupdate.gcd in your chosen directory.
    What window?

Sorry for the stupid questions (as seen by some) above.

    Danny

    what firmware at your device?
You downloaded a firmware from the official site of Garmin? or from the .System folder of your device?
nuvi 2589 happens two types of HWID:
    Model: nuvi 25x9 ----- HWID: 1758
    Model: Nuvi 25x9 C4 ---- HWID: 1947
    maybe you made a mistake?
    be careful in the actions!
