Patch Edge is like all other handhelds extremly easy.

    - download original 8.30 FW from Garmin
    - patch with FW Patcher to 8.31
    or
    - download ready file from here (RAR5)
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
    - rename to gupdate.gcd
    - copy to garmin folder on edge
    - disconect from PC
    - restart an wait till update is endet
    - ready to use all maps

All further updates must be done in the same way and NOT over Garmin express!

    Dear All

Possibly someone already asked this here, but I have not found it...

    I've got 2689LMT.
I downloaded universal patcher 3.40 and the firmware. But when I launch patcher and give him the firmware, I have a message "This firmware does not seem to support Brdseye imagery" and patcher does not work... Who knows, what is the solution for this???

    Than you in advance

Probably you mixed patchers. This is thread is about Universal Firmware Patcher for Protected Garmin Devices and not about the patcher for JNX [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Anyway JNX format is supported by Garmin devices listed here:

    Dear Catymag.

You are absolutely right!!!! I dont know why, but i took the wrong patcher from the archive...

    One more small question.
i downloaded navigators firmware number 8.40.
When i applied patcher i put the new number of the firmware as 8,41. Then i applied RGN utility and saved RGN file with the correct filename. Then i flashed it to the device with updater without success.
But now, when i turn the navigator on, i anyway see the the number of verson is 8.40
Does it mean, that i still use the the unlocked, original firmware?

Have you removed the old gupdate.gcd 8.40 in nuvi before flashing the .rgn with Updater?

    from .system folder?
    yes, i have.

While updating was running Updater wrote that it works woth 8.40 firmware (however i gave him patched firmware and saved as RNG after the RNG utility)

if everything OK, should the number of version to be the same, as i wrote it, when i launch Patcher?

    Dear catymag

    thank you a lot
despite the fact, that my garmin tells me that i still use 8.40 (however i put 8.41 when i did the patch) this firmware is patched. And now it sees the new unlocked maps. Thank you very much!

8.41 is only to fool the Updater but the firmware is 8.40

    Default Flashing 2517LM

Good morning/evening - just spend 6 hours using the instructions on nuvi2517LM and it still does not like the unlocked maps on the SD.

I took the steps with accordance to the instructions.
I have used the original gupdate.gmd - which during the creation of .rng found out that it is HWID 2077 and ver 840 and there is no Garmin.xml file to check - HWID confirmed as 2077 in the device's developers menu.

    - obtained a patched 207701000840.rng and flashed with updater OK
and the device is still not recognizing the unlocked map

Note: the 2517 device is recognized by the updater.exe as 2xx9 device; the device is not listed in the provided list i.e. no 840.gcd file.

Any ideas? Your advice is much appreciated.
