You can use file on Perry, check it has the right HWID first.
Yes, rename it with +1 option.
    Gupdate.gcd is ok.
    Sd/Garmin/gupdate.gcd

    Sd/Garmin/gupdate.gcd
    Means:
    In Sd.
    In a Garmin directory.
    Named gupdate.gcd.

I must give the guys of this forum big thumbs up, i tried the procedure on new nuvi 2507 LT device (006-B2077-00), and i must say if u flow the procedure from step to step .. the solution is working .. at least for me ...now i will do some live tests.. regarding the full functionality of the device .. if i detect something (what it seems not likely..ill report)
P.S. I have some questions.. what will happen if u update the device whit garmin express, firstly is that a possibility after FW change ..and can i repeat this procedure one more time ?? to get the device back in patched condition ?

You have to load updates by sd after having patched the gupdate.gcd. (Instructions in starting post, bottom of the page.)

Assuming the pre-boot spot of your nüvi 65 won't be any different from my nüvi 66, try following:

    1. Switch off nüvi.
    2. Hold top left hand corner of screen.
    3. Connect USB cable.
    4. Don't wait too long, otherwise screen calibration will start.
