    Start with the unit OFF. Click and hold down the power button. Saves you waiting for answers if you use search btw [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. However, for loading patched fw to Montana you should be able to do it simply by gupdate.gcd because i believe Montana has no GSV in firmware but please check it yourself. Look at the list in Post #1. This from Post #4, same info in Post #41:
    For units with "MSV: Yes" and "GSV: ---" even the initial loading can be via patched GCD file.
    Also see the warning in Post #1 for Montana 680.

    What do you know about the "GPSMAP 64S". (I do not know HWID, because he is on the way and NO any info about 64S in FW-list). It is necessary to reflash with patched firmware , or I can use unlock map with sigpach?

    Thanks

    @Dmitry_2011
    GPSMAP 64 has "MSV: Yes | GSV: ---" so paching can be done even initially with GCD file [Hint: Search only for 'GPSMAP 64' in the fw list, no 'S'. US/EU GPSMAP64/64s/64st all use same firmware as they share HWID 1859].

    @Philipych
    A question: were you able to use RGN_Tool to make the RGN or did you use gfw.exe?

    Nor do i have such a device unfortunately, and i'm on a borrowed PC at present so can't even easily check it this way: Using gfw.exe unpack the rgn you've made with RGN.Tool to get the individual bin files. If the bin files from the rgn file don't have the HWID in them they will show with '0000' where the HWID in hex should be in its file name. e.g. boot bin will be 0008-0000-00DC.bin when it should be 0008-08DB-00DC.bin.

    EDIT: I've now looked at your RGN file. Clearly you did the HWID overrides in RGN_Tool as 2267 now shows normally in its GUI. The bin files also unpack normally from your rgn with gfw.exe and the boot and fw_all bins will then display in RGN_Tool with the correct HWID so i reckon it will work in the device. Now need someone to try it in a smart40/50 device.

    @Neil
    Thanks Neil
    there is a problem with repacking GCD to RGN
    It deals specifically with gfw.exe (for firmware only Drive and DriveSmart 40/50/60/70)
    But this is a topic for another forum threads
