    2. How does one use this firmware patcher AND the JNX Firmware patcher to allow use of BirdsEye maps?

    Thank you, I found the first Montana listings, and when the 680 was not listed there, I stopped Looking

    Thank you. After installing original firmware and still having issue, I reset device and tried other applications without issue, then installed patched firmware again, again other applications worked OK, but map locked device up, so reset again, then disabled geocache dashboard in map settings before using map, then map worked OK.

    So issue is with Geocache dashboard, with disabled, all is OK. Both patches work!

    Yes, you're right, I've seen those files are modified when you turn on the device (but I didn't see inside to check). I've read that someone had problems flashing a firmware with the same number just uploading the new file. It was rejected. Editing those files works perfectly for flashing an old firmware, always says it was found a "new" firmware. I haven't tried downgrading the firmware only uploading the new file, maybe it works, I haven't done the work to be sure.

    The error "Map database full" doesn't sound like a .img file issue, maybe try some smaller map.img's with less mapping segments. All devices have max segment limits and even though Epix is quite high at up to 4,000 it could be possible you have hit it.

    Garmin also mention that "Connect IQ apps may fill internal memory before file limittions are met" so something else you could check.
    Not sure. The situation is the following: with firmware 2.90, I can have 3 big files (over 6GB total) at the same time. With ver. 3.10, I can have only 1 of those big files on. The only difference is the firmware version. I haven't been using Connect IQ apps. Even I disabled the basemap, but it doesn't work. Definitely ver. 3.10 has something different that affects the load of big files. It doesn't matter if it's patched or not.

    Probably the dumbest question in this thread, but what exactly do MAP, GMA, MSV, and GVS stand for? For example, is GMA 'Garmin Map Authentication'?

    MAP= it verifies *.unl presence
    GMA= it verifies *.gma presence
    MSV= it verifies signature presence in *.img
    GVS= it verifies signature presence in firmware (cannot install a non signed .gcd)

    GMA - Garmin Map Activation (not Authentication).

    Sorry for the pedantry.

    That's very much appreciated. Do you also know exactly what the others are?
