    Disable your antivirus before running the patcher, or run it as administrator.

    On 34xx Sd card create folder Map and inside rename map to example CN2016.img and will work.

    For safety name the RGN file only in this way: <hwid_4numerals>01000<swversion_3numerals>. For your EU 2689 that's either 177201000780.rgn [for 'non-C4' unit] OR 194801000780.rgn [for C4 unit] and ANY other naming can cause a forced flash [and if you have fw unsuited to the unit it may brick it badly so know your unit's HWID and choose accordingly].

    Did the unit's details appear in the window next to 'USB Device' on Updater.exe's GUI? Open Updater.exe by dragging the RGN file onto it, select the radio button next to 'USB Device', put the unit in preboot by holding the top LH corner with your left thumb with the unit fully off [not in standby], plug USB lead to a rear port of PC and then plug the lead into the unit which will power it up. Immediately the unit's details appear in the window of the GUI, press 'OK' or hit Enter on your kb. Keep holding screen until finished or at least when 'Loader' or 'Software Loading' appears on the screen.

    @doko
    I wonder if you have Garmin USB driver installed.
    Updater.exe needs them to work.

    I have the following question. Is it possible simply to download with Garmin Express a new protected firmware, then move it from a system device folder to PC, patch with this patcher, remove word "_Patched" from the name and put the new patched *.gcd file back in a System device folder. Then safely unplug navigator from PC and restart ?

    Why a more difficult above described procedure is used?

    Your method is possible, if the firmware does not contain a GVS check (GVS: ---).
    For firmwares with the GVS check (GVS: Yes), you can reflash your device via the patched GCD only with already patched current firmware.
    See Neil's post #4:

    One question. Does patching somehow affect "LM" functionality?

    No, it doesn't affect it. LM subscription is locked to a unit's individual ID [UID]. Example: nuvi 37x0LM fully converted to 34x0 firmware with HWID changed from 1101 to 1376 still continues to get LM updates via Garmin Express and MapUpdater because the UID is unchanged. Sometimes for map updates a firmware update will firstly be mandatory which would flash the previously protected unit back to 'standard' firmware. In that case you would abort the update, flash the higher version patched fw yourself and then restart the map update.
