For information: No need to use pre-boot mode for your Alpha 100 to install the patched firmware, because its original firmwares do not contain a GVS check yet (GVS: ---).
You can use the patched GCD file directly for flashing.

Only either 41 or 154 are used as the 'nonvol' region. All units using rgn154 write region backups to '2' for the media card, some recent units using 41 write to '2' [nuvi 3597 is an example], but all earlier than 2013 units write 41 to '1'. Generally if 154 is used for nonvol then 41 is empty i think. This command will work to get any capable unit's nonvol backup .bin file on a media card in any case:

    rrgn,41,1:/41.bin
    rrgn,41,2:/41.bin
    rrgn,154,2:/154.bin
    reboot

Be aware that a unit such as the example nuvi 3597 with RWFS partition in internal memory will then also write '41.bin' to there as it's path is '1'. You can also just do do it 'one-by-one' if you don't know, it doesn't take long as there are only three possibilities: 41 to '1'; 41 to '2'; or 154 to '2'.

Where do I copy the patched GCD file or how do I flash it?

Remove any previous gupdate.gcd from your device before flashing the patched firmware, copy gupdate.gcd in the alpha sd then restart the device and wait until the process finishes.

I really appreciate you helping me with this.
My problem is that I canīt find any gupdate.gcd in any folders original on my Alpha 100 to remove. Also flashing the device with the patched file is a problem, because the updater.exe donīt find the device as a Usb unit. Thats why I taught that I had to get the unit into Pre-boot mode.

    and my post?

If you don't have a previous gupdate.gcd it means you never updated firmware. Ok go on to next step flashing by sd.
Put gupdate.gcd in a Garmin folder in sd.

Thanks. Finaly i made it. Gupate.gcd placed in SD /Garmin folder. But still it won't open my map. It's a Topo Premium map, that I tried to unlock. Probably I have not done it right.
