It's 'bricked'. Have you done anything lately, new maps, firmware, other files addition? Read the following threads and post in one of them as appropriate with more detail if you need further help:

    Hello,

It's an astro 320 with 4.1 patched software and HWID = 1339. The problem started when i tried to reinsert 4.1 patched software which was already in. Update seemed to function correctly until I tried to turn on.

The main problems are that i can't connect astro to my computer (USB) and I can't reach preeboot mode. When I turn on astro it stays on startin garmin logo and i've got to remove batteries to switch off astro.

    Thanks for your help

Usually if you can see the logo the device can reach preboot. If you genuinely cannot reach preboot it's unrecoverable. Astro preboot is hold 'up' button while powering on. Keep trying over and over, i've had units which were difficult but eventually would go into preboot after dozens of attempts. Have the cure firmware loaded into Updater.exe - open and visible on the desktop, ready to flash.

Many devices will power off if the power button is held for anything from 10 to 30 seconds. That function may not be present in all devices with user-removable batteries.
