    T5 collars work with Alpha 100 running 3.10 firmware. Tested just now.

    What can I do if after upgrading to 4.40 I cannot boot Astro 100 anymore. It is stuck at the Garmin logo, no process messages appear. It wont show up in garmin webupdater or basecamp.

    @mountrcg
    It's bricked, probably by the corrupt file gupdate.gcd. Go to the Tutorials Index and scroll down to 'Garmin doesnt boot? Bricked device? Troubleshooting.'. Read the first several threads linked there and post accordingly in an appropriate existing or new thread if you need further help.

    Regarding Alpha/Astro from US for use in EU, I do believe that transmitting on certain frequencies is illegal. Receiving is not illegal. The question is why Garmin doesn't put the blocking of frequencies on the collars.

    Garmin can change the operating frequencies, but this would make their resellers and importers very very angry. Garmin is protecting their regional resellers this way and securing regional pricing. The second reason for this is that US astros and alphas are not CE -type approved stamped. HW between US and EU versions are these same, only limitation is the software, nothing else.

    If file is device specific, You can make clone of Alpha and after unlock it.
    Copy regions 34 and 41 (I hope no difference with Astro).

    jupeal has removed content from his posts about the hacked software. I'm quite certain the hacked software would not be able to be replicated anyway or used on a device other than the one on which it's first loaded, because it'd then be locked to the first device UID and maybe it's even encrypted. You can read about it in Giomen's post #83 here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    He's removed the link from his post and also removed the actual file uploaded to the link so i guess jupeal won't be offering anyone the chance of cloning his unit running the custom firmware now. This is the cloning procedure for Alpha 320 referred to by Fa_Piter in post #33 here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Risky business if untried on Alpha anyway.

    What about the US collars T5 or TT15, any experience on changing the frecuency to operable state in Europe?

    @HNI
    Please see here for an explanation: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If it were easier to change the broadcast frequencies of the US collars to EU that would satisfy the legal requirements for the correct use of frequencies [but would still violate Garmin's licensing agreement of course ]. I think the fact that it's been done by manipulating the unit's firmware and offered for sale in RU is a sure indication that's the easier firmware to modify.
