Default Need Garmin Astro 320 software version 3.40

Hi! I'm new to this forum and seeking help from experts.

I bought an Garmin Astro 320 with two DC50 dog collars in the US last year. It has been running flawlessly on software version 3.40 here in Norway.

Recently I did the stupid mistake of running a software update on Garmin's site. I updated the unit to software version 3.60, and guess what; the unit disbanded the collars due to EU-regulations concerning frequencies.

Is there any way to revert the software back to version 3.40?

Guess it would work if I got a copy of a working 3.40 software, put it on a SD-card and just replaced the 3.60 SD-card with the 3.40 version. Or am I wrong?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

The Astro V3.40 is available from the Perry site:
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
As are other versions for Astro 320 from this page:
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
I'm sorry but that's all the help you'll get from me because it's actually illegal to use the US collars in EU and you may have saved yourself getting into trouble by disabling the receiver with the fw update. Please read this thread thoroughly [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and also this notice from Garmin:

    Thanx a lot!

I'll try to reset the software.

And I'm also aware of the legal issues concerning frequencies. I'm hunting in a very remote area of Norway, well outside VHF-range of any possible conflicts. This applies for most hunting areas in Norway.

Sure, that's probably the case that you won't actually interfere with anything else, but you can never know for sure. Sometimes these 'reserved' frequencies uses aren't actually publicised and if they're being used by the military or worse some uber-secret government organisation expect a knock on the door ....brrr!

Willing to take the risk. I'm a military officer myself, and I know for sure that such interferences is absolutely of no concern. Our military equipment are capable of much higher wattage than the DC50s. If interference should happen for some odd reasons, the worst case would be that my DC50s would be jammed and not the other way around.

Is there any particular things to keep in mind for a software revert? Just clone the 3.60 version into a new SD-card, copy the gcd-file from perrys site and replace it with the excisting 3.60 version?

Agreed. Three decades in ARes [Aust. Army Reserve] leaves me with the same opinion regarding interference and which transmission will top out. Won't stop them tracking you and giving you a virtual bitch-slap if they catch you though. Said i wouldn't help you any further sorry. Maybe others won't have the same scruples.

Default How do I reverse back my Astro 320 from version 3.60 to version 3.40?

Got the 3.40 version from here:

    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
    File is approx 7.1 kB

When opening my unit on my PC via the USB-port, I'm unable to find anything in the directory that looks like that file. The only .gcd I can find is under folder RemoteSW, but as I understand that is software for the DC50.

Is the Astro360.gcd (or whatever it is named for the 3.60 version) embedded in another file? And in that case, how do I replace this with the Astro320_340.gcd?

Unable to find any tutorial on the Forum for this reverse-back-procedure, and would be nice if anyone could help me
Please code outside links as per the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], and better not to open new threads unnecessarily for related subjects. Thanks.

    Threads merged, perry link coded.

    Hi,

Did exactly the same thing, and experienced the same problems as you did, in trying to replace the 3.60 version with the old 3.40 software. I also hunt in remote places in Norway. Can you share more details on your solution, or else switch to private message?
