    @greenmaxz
    Did you try progressive downgrade as detailed by Ellinas [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]?

    Updater.exe cannot use GCD files, it's used for RGN files only and the unit must be in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. If the unit's in Mass Storage Mode [i.e., when it's seen normally by computer to browse files] it will not be seen by Updater which only flashes files when the unit's in preboot.

    GCD files are used to load firmware internally onto the unit on next boot, after they're either placed manually in MSM as gupdate.gcd or transferred using WebUpdater.

    I don't think you've fully understood what to do when you've read this thread. The several different methods are mentioned throughout the thread, summary here:

    • Delete any gupdate.gcd from the unit [if present] and replace it with the desired version file then reboot etc [or put gupdate.gcd in a Garmin folder on microSD then reboot].
    • In preboot, load the earlier version as an RGN file using Updater.exe after removing any current gcd from the unit.

    Also another way to do it, which can delete any current gcd file and load another, is using ldr.bin and text commands via a card in the unlikely event the above doesn't work.

    @Bourguignon
    The likely answer is in this thread, Post #89 by Ellinas:

    4.10 -> 3.80 -> 3.60 -> 3.40

    Make sure that after every downgrade you do with WebUpdater you disconnect the device from PC and turn it on so it can complete the procedure. Then connect it again and proceed the same way for every firm version.
    So just downgrade progressively, 4.20>4.10> etc. Read P#113 above for methods.

    Thank you Neil
    I am not an expert!! I found the gdc files to this link: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    But I don't know what to do!? Where do I have to load this downgrade file step by step, as you mentioned, in the device (Astro 320). You mentioned Webupdater. I have installed it but it seems to be only for upgrade a version?
    Thank for your help.

    No need to be an expert, you can use the gcd files to downgrade with WebUpdater as said in P#113. It's in more detail in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]:

    3. Create a shortcut of Webupdater on your Desktop
    4. Connect your Astro to your PC
    5. Turn on wifi (internet) on your PC
    6. Drag and Drop the firmware file you've copied on your Desktop, on top of WebUpdater's shortcut
    7. WebUpdater will start, find your Astro and copy the firmware file in the right place, with the right name.
    8. Safely Remove your Astro from the PC
    9. Turn on your Astro.
    ..........
    That instruction mentions only V3.40. Simply follow that demo progressively from 4.20 > 4.10 > 3.80 > 3.60 > 3.40, allowing the unit to boot fully between downgrades, also connect to PC after each reboot so you can remove GUPDATE.GCD from the unit before doing the next downgrade. If the later version .gcd file is left on the unit it'll re-update from it.
