If it doesn't appear to 'wake up', take the unit into a very dark room to see if a faint light is showing on the screen. If it still seems completely dark hold down the power button for up to a minute to see if it changes. If it does show a dim light you may still be able to reach preboot so follow the specific instructions for your unit. If the screen doesn't change at all, open the unit and remove the battery connection to the board for a period of up to an hour then see if it will power up after reconnecting.
I tried un USB 3.0 and 2.0 port in laptop, with presa a long time power buttom, nothing happened. Pc don't ser carmín device.
I will see un dark room this afternoon and will say you results.

If it can't power on then it can't reach preboot. Disconnect battery is only other suggestion i have sorry, maybe others have more ideas to wake it up. A very brief higher current/voltage via USB may work but is risky.

That seems more like a failed digitizer than a bricked device. Does it boot up? If it's seen in Mass Storage Mode by your PC it's not really 'bricked'.

    Hi,

I updated the firmware on my previously working Nuvi 2340 to version 3.30, and now the device won't boot. the update was via garmin Express.

    1) Bricked device MODEL, Firmware version, HWID.

    2) Why and how the device got bricked.
    Performing firmware upgrade to 3.30

    3) Symptoms: what's wrong in your device?
Unit powers on and reaches a dialogue that says "Enter Locale". I select UK, and the unit re-boots (goes via Loading maps) and goes back to "Enter Locale" screen - endless loop.

    4) Does your pc sees your device ?
    yes

    5) List all the procedures you already tried to unbrick it and their results and errors messages obtained.
    Deleted GPX and GUPDATE.GCD

    6) Do you have Garmin USB Drivers installed ? Garmin: USB Drivers Updates & Downloads
    yes

    7) If you don't know HWID get it by Use program G7ToWin to retrieve your HWID

    8) Write down if you already read or tried GarminCure3 tool - the new way to create cure firmwares for Garmin devices
How to unbrick a nüvi - step by step guide

    9) Can you reach preboot mode? If no ,have you followed this? Garmin Updater.exe v.2.8.0
Not tried - can get to screen recalibration tho.

    10) Probably no , but do you have NV backup?
    No

    Thanks!

Hi - tried a hard reset - erased all data. no change.

Ran express again - no updates required.

in the Nuvi Root Text folder are lots of .glx files - starts ar af_ZA.glx and ends at zh_TW_TRF.glx. 98 files in total.

    Cheers

    Rob
