    We don't know what you try and what problem you have for no go.
    Write all what you try and why no go or we can't help you to get data back.

    All your post in this thread is like this:

    Example:

    " i go in car, but can't insert key "

    Do you know from this if i go in wrong car or i only have wrong key?

    I have tried all of the recovery items except the last post from Neil. Just to recap My nuvi worked great for several years 2 weeks ago it got very sluggish so I shut it off and turned it back on and it never goes past the garmin screen. I can load software only by holding my finger on the top left screen and that is it. My computer never sees the garmin files. All I am after if possible is to recover my mileage logs.. So I have the right car and the right keys its just not starting so far..

    Try with this:

    Extract this direct on empty SD card ( you will have folder Garmin after extraction on SD )

    Insert SD in your nuvi

    Now extract this on Desktop of your Pc:

    Flash in pre boot

    When updater write that is finish, go to sd and in Garmin/Updater/0972/ and open here updater.log and let us know if you have error or succes writen inside and if you have on root of SD .bin file

    lolypop000, did you forget to mention that RGN file from the second archive has to be flashed using updater.exe when SD card is inserted?

    In Loly's defence, I'd told amos1 what to do in Post #29 with a link to your Post #33 in the running programs from sd thread in which you've given the instructions how to flash the modded boot bin RGN with updater.exe.

    @Kunix

    I didn't see that i forget to write for pre boot

    Thank you for this, when i read your post i go read my post and see my mistake.

    @Neil
    I take Garmin rar from your post and automaticly forget to write pre boot step, becouse i read this in yours.
    I change in hex and create pack for amos1 in case if he don't know how to do it.

    If he tell us that in updater.log have succes then we can copy mileage log with SD command and then erase reg41 and maybe then Pc will see his nuvi.

    Exactly Loly.

    You've left the original ldr.bin in the Garmin pack 0972 folder although i don't think it'll make any difference because he's already said his nuvi won't flash from sd directly anyway. In my experiments with the bricked 1390 i removed it before using the modded boot bin RGN flash to execute rrgn, copy and del commands. If he can't write back to sd using kunix's method then he probably won't be able to use ergn, del etc commands either and if so neither his data or the unit will be recoverable i think unless you or kunix have other things to try.

    @amos1
    We thought you were sick of us 'talking in tongues', lol! Hope you're feeling better.

    Here's the walk-thru:

    1. Take the pack you downloaded from my post #22 [or it's also in Loly's post #34 above], and extract Garmin.rar onto a clean mircroSD.

    2. Look in Garmin\Updater\0972 and locate file named 'ldr.bin'. Delete that file.

    3. Place the microSD in your 1490, ensuring the unit is completely off.

    4. If you don't already have it, download from post #34 'Extract on Desktop.rar' and then do just that.

    5. Drag the file '097201000620.rgn' onto 'Updater.exe', when it opens select the radio button 'USB Device'. Leave Updater window visible on your Desktop.

    6. Plug a miniUSB cable into a rear port of the PC.

    7. Hold the upper LH corner of the 1490's screen with your finger or thumb.

    8. Plug the USB cable into the 1490.

    9. Position your mouse cursor over 'OK' on Updater and when you see your unit details appear in the window next to 'USB Device' immediately click 'OK'.

    10. Don't release the screen until you see 'Loader' appear on the screen. Let Updater finish completely.

    11. Remove microSD and look if you have a file named '41_backup.bin' in the root and with a file 'update.log' in 0972 folder.

    Don't upload the bin file yet if it's there. Just let us know if it is there or not, and also what the contents of the log file are [open it in NotePad or similar]. Hopefully it says:
    Parsing "rrgn,41,1:/41_backup.bin"
    Success
    Parsing "reboot"
