    @Neil

    I use portable Ultraedit 32:

    Spoiler: CLICK
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    I search 105 ( 31 00 30 00 35 and 31 30 35 ) but can't find it in FW, then i search for -0 ( 2D 30 ) and found in both FW of 3xx A0083-00.
When i look this in FW of nuvi 2x5 i also find this string.
After this i start again search for -0 ( 2D 30 ) and scroll up when i found it in FW.

That is how i found XBLKS and missing PCB number
If you search 2D 30 in nuvi 310 FW your first hit be -043 and second search you will see A0083-00, now scroll up and you will find XBLKS
If you wish, you can [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Thanks for that Loly. Nice program too, as is HxD recommend by kanopus. I've now tried the 310 file from Caty in several different hex editors/viewers and the result is always the same. Where the PCB PNs should be i get this:

    . . flush_map> flushing %u map pages, lock %u, gen %u to page %u, sver %u ? Ì *s 575-

and obviously i should see something like this:

    ? . \ . * . . . . . s . . . 105-00968-00.105-00968-S0.105-XXXXX-XX

I'm using Win 8 but i've also tried it on a different PC running Win 7 with same result. Here's the file in XVI32 and Portable UltraEdit32 compared to Caty's HexCmp:

    5pai

In post #38 there is a screenshot of my original file open in HexCmp as well.

The views above are of the same file uploaded to ZippyShare by Caty and the MD5 is B779E001286E0CF7B04248CAC57B0CD2 which matches my original file in any case. Do you mind checking the hash on your original file please Caty?

Can anyone explain how can there be differences in it's content when the same file is viewed in the same programs?

In post #42, the first and second screenshots are from the same file (nuvi310...), but the third screenshot is from a different file (nuvi300...). I don't expect to see the same search results. Am I missing something?

No, it's me missing something [between the ears!], and i'm blind coz you're right i've got the wrong file shown. Actually, my eyesight is really cr*p so i'll use that excuse rather than the lack of brains one. Thanks for picking that up [the file error, i mean .... oh, and the brains thing too then....]

The whole point of my ramblings is because of my unsuccessful attempts to find the PCB PN's in the fw's of 310 [hwid 0566] and 610 [hwid 0569]. The string 58 42 4C 4B 53 [XBLKS] appears twice in 310 and once in 610, but unlike with another related fw [300 hwid 0476], a XBLKS entry isn't followed closely by the PCB PN/s, and searching for 31 30 35 2D [105-] of course yields nothing either. In another, 310MLC [HWID 0856] i can't find XBLKS or 105-. However, a search of 105- in 300MLC [hwid 0855] finds the PCB PN 105-00968-M0.

So is it that these 310 & 610 fw's don't have the PCB PN's written into them or is it just not possible to find them by search?

Maybe those firmwares don't have PCB P/N inside. As I understand PCB P/N is only shown in "battery menu". This menu doesn't work on 6xx.

You're right i guess. It's just not written in fw. But if it's also not shown in the 'battery menu' that doesn't make it very easy to retrieve. My 300 has it in fw, but it's not in the 'clock menu' [you have to hold it for several seconds instead].

Thanks to everyone for the interest and help. At least i've honed my meager hex editor skills a tiny bit.

I realize this thread is a bit dated, but...

Anyone have PCB #'s for the nuvicam LMTHD and/or the dezl LMTHD by any chance?

Searching the fw in a hex editor shows both nuvicam and dezlcam (I'm assuming you meant dezlcam not dezl) to have 105-02547-00. GMapTool discloses HWIDs of 2043 and 2141 respectively.

    I want to add
    Nuvi 2699 (hwid 1948)
    105 02458 00

And I saw here somewhere possible conversion to a Camper 660 or 670...

    Edit:

I just done converting to a Camper 660

First I try with hybrid method 1 (mismatch)

Second method (full conversion) was successful.
