    Default extract regions from firmware.

Have been playing with firmware and following a thread in the firmware forum. Everyone keeps refering to regions as rgn 0x11, rgn 0x05. My question is
who are they extracting regions ? I am using rgn_tools and IDA PRO with kunix garmin-ida-loader,

    Any help would be appreciated.

Regions are flash memory blocks in the Nuvi (These vary in size)
    e.g. Region DEC 16 is the logo.bin region. Region Hex 0C is boot.bin - Region hex 7F is Fw1_resources.bin Region Hex 0E is Fw_all.bin
Some Regions contain critical information eg Region DEC 139 contains the part number and Revision on Nuvi 37xx/34xx
Region Dec 41 is the NVRAM and is unique to a particular Nuvi

Read Here about extracting regions with the SD Card

Also here about running programs on SD

Be careful in using the xrgn(Write region) and ergn(Erase Region) commands, you could brick your Nuvi.
The rrgn(Read region) command is quite safe to use.
Make sure that the LDR.BIN (Boot.Bin) that you use is the exact version of the currently flashed firmware in your Nuvi.
