    I think that 2D building footprints is a feature of the MAP. (which must be enabled in Firmware as well, I guess)
    For 3 years now my Nuvi 1300 has shown 2d building footprints when using pre-loaded Garmap Maps. (At some zoom levels in certain areas.)
    The footprints are also visible in Mapsource on Garmap maps.
    Maybe Some Nuvi's have the Feature disabled.
    The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.

    I'm sure you are correct. Unit fw and map content interdependent. None of my 1xxx units show footprints with Au maps, but i'm sure i've seen them using other overseas maps with them too. So somehow the map triggers the unit fw or my 42 & 50 would not see footprints in the Navicom map either. Too big for me Mate!

    Thanks for the tip ddabcd277, i'll try that with both 1xxx and x0/x2 when i can and post results. Really would like to know why some NT's (such as the Navigon) work with x0/x2 but not with others (such as AU Navteq). There has to be a connection between fw & map data.

    @dasilvarsa
    Are you using the NT or non-NT Garmap Africa in your 1300?

    Go figure, got me beat. Can you explain Giomen?
    I can only guess. Footprints have different type of polygon on different map.

    Thank you for you work. On old SW I do not see footprints on Nuvi 30,40,50 for Navicom 2013.30. So Garmin changed software.

    As say above by dasilvarsa at one time Nuvi 1xxx had some casus. For this reason the Navicom was forced to release a three different map with different PID. It concerned Roads of Russia. Each of this map had own type of footprints polygon for specific devices. The same situation is for some Ukrainian map based on "footprints for all building" cartography - it have both version a 3D and a not-3D.
    Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

    I've tried CN non-NT AU 2009 in 1xxx, 40/42, and 2455. No footprints show using any of them in major city. I guess there are no polygons in the map, or the 2455 would show them for sure.

    Add 3dbuilding.img on your nuvi and you will have footprint of building in big city.
    Look that you have enabled only CN and 3D building, then turn off and again on your nuvi and look in some big city and you will se footprints of building

    This work only if you have 2D view and map zoom about 50m.

    So the 42/52 are real after all. Nice. I wonder if the 2497/2597/3597 fw can be flashed to 24xx/25xx/3590. And how about the 2797? Garmin with a 7". I might have to eat catfood straight from the can instead of having it hot on toast to save up some moolar for one of those babies. Anyone know when they will be released?
