backup name is what you typed in the update.text
Thx for "stick" this post...really help for beginner like me to understand what is " region 41 " it is...if somebody didnt post this,i might said "region" as a place of somewhere in the world...still learning a new thing here...TQVM
@bpb I guess post #1 should be changed.
Not really any need to change Post #1. Whatever the backup of your bin file is called it is still a copy of region 41. You can also choose to save it in a folder, rather than in the root of the card, i.e. you may choose to write the text as:
rrgn,41,1:/BACKUP_OF_ORIGINAL/41.bin
reboot
to write it to that folder, or you could write it to the Garmin folder. And you may also choose the name of the file as bpb has told you. i.e., instead of '41.bin' at the end of the first line of text, you can have 'backup_41.bin' or 'orig_41.bin' or reg_41.bin for instance.
Doesn't much matter what you name the file within reason, or whatever path you choose for the backup. Just matters it's done.

Hi
I tried to do the backup as instructed, but the file created is on 20kb. Log says it is a success.
Does that make sense?
catymag, i followed all the instructions and it seems like everything worked fine. My 3790T backed up as 41.bin as one other user has posted it and it has the same file size as yours in your attachment in your post #28. Since the update.log says it was a success as you wrote , i take it, it worked. I never flashed my device but as all of you wrote, i guess it is a very good idea to have a backup just in case. Great instructions.
