    And no 41_backup.bin file is present at the root of SD card with Garmin directory.
    Probably you can see it on RWFS and it not good because it wastes free space...

    @sergio2
    In detail:

    Your command was "rrgn41,1:/41.bin" so the BIN file will be written as '41.bin' to the path specified.

    Provided your nuvi 68 is a RWFS device, that command will have written the BIN file to the device's [usually hidden] RWFS partition in its internal flash disc. To check if it's got that, go to the 'Diagnostics Page' by pressing the speed field on the main Map page then hold the centre of speedometer for a ~5 secs. Scroll down and if it has the entry 'RWFS Settings' select it and enable 'Show RWFS in Mass Storage'. You can then check if you have the bin file there as it will be now visible to a PC with the 68 also set to 'Mass Storage' in MTP Settings [selection above RWSF Settings in the menu list]. If the 41.bin file is there in RWFS but has zero bytes content, then your unit uses region 154 for nonvol so read the initial post carefully.

    To write to the media card with such devices the path must be 2:/ not 1:/ as it is for earlier units.

    @Neil

    I followed your advices : indeed there is a 0 bytes 41.bin file in RWFS partition of my Nüvi 68.

    Could you tell me now if region 154 NV backup has worked ; here are the results :

    Command used in update.txt :

    Folder and file at the root of microSD after backup :

    154.bin is there, but only 2 MB ? Is it normal ?

    Probably it's correct size, it certainly show as a successful copy in the log file. I don't have a 68 to compare but most nuvi models do have 4, 5 or even ~6 MiB file size available for nonvol in either 41 or 154. Maybe another user with same series as you can confirm it's size for sure. The size shown is actually the full space of the actual region and not the amount of data written into it however. So, for instance, even a 7x5, 2xx7 or 3597 etc with 6.12MiB region dump may have less than a couple of MiB of actual data [but it's encrypted anyway].

    Should be possible. Try "rrgn,154,2:/" command first as that's the most likely region and path being as it's a newer device.

    Read better:
    What is Ldr.bin? It is your firmware boot.bin you can extract with RGN_tool
    So get your device firmware, drag it in RGNTool and extract boot.bin etc, follow instructions and look at the picture too

    Yes, I was very well as this, but I am looking and can not find boot.ini?
    I did a search with " boot.bin " and I never found it!

    the only file that looks like it is called "fm_sub.bin" or 006-D4511-01.bin or 006-D4511-02.bin-----» 006-D4511-08.bin : not boot.bin

    What is name of this firmware?that's the question lol

    thanks

    Firmware ['unit software'] has been factory loaded to your brand new device so there is NO gupdate.gcd present. Like it sounds ['g' for 'Garmin', 'update' for ....well, you'd get it now], it's a file to update firmware.

    in tuto is not said hot extract. .GCD Files,
    in my folder systems\RemoteSW\ i have some xxxxxxxxxx.gcd files but is not "GUPDATE.GCD" same Turbccc How-To said?
    These differently named .gcd files starting with '006' are not used to update the main unit software [firmware], they are for other minor uses and most have only one component BIN file. Don't mess with them.

    Post # 1 said extract with RGN_tool but with which file ?
    Only get it from the main unit software/firmware files, which can be either the GCD [named gupdate.gcd if it's present directly in the device's .System folder but named quite differently if it's from other download sources], or its RGN converted counterpart. The RGN and GCD files have the same BIN components, i.e. boot.bin [Ldr.bin], fw_all.bin etc., they vary only in that the GCD file has some extra code written [to enable the device itself to initiate the flash from the file].

    ...... its new gps and i dont want scrap it .....
    Then don't mess with it's other files. Find it's HWID, it can be 1758 or 1947. Here's how: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Then get the CORRECT version firmware for it from one of these links:
    Code:
    Please Login or Register to see the links
    First update your unit to V8.30 if necessary. Extract the boot.bin from the correct GCD, rename it Ldr.bin and then you'll be fine. The path to the media card is 2:/ and nonvol is in region 154 from your device, so use command rrgn,154,2:/154.bin in Update.txt file.

    If you use the wrong Ldr.bin you'll likely hard-brick it, maybe permanently. Read here, P#446: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
