help 34xx(converted from 3760lmt) map update problems

    Hi everyone,

i'm in a pinch here was trying to update my 3760lmt-->34xx for new cn na 2013.20 map with the new map updater V3.1.19 As soon as it reach installing maps after about 16min i always get this error message: An unexpected error has occurred and the program must close. If you continue to experience this, please contact Garmin customer support.

First time it happened i rebooted everything: my cp, nuvi and even erased everything in my sd. My nuvi stared ok but no maps still have the 34xx intact

2nd time it happened i check map updater to also install and leave files in my cp, but still the same error message.

3rd time no error message appears but it more than 5hrs and still nothing happens so i got impatient and cancelled the processes and reboot my cp erased files from sd.

What do i need to do? I'm on my 4th try here no errors again and on its 3rd hour installing the maps.

I have windows vista home ed. turned off all anti-virus, firewall and such when doing this. Please help me getting really frustrated now.

    Thanks in advance guys.

I think you dont have enough space on your device.
try this: in a 4gb sd or pendrive create a folder named Garmin . Copy in it your GarminDevice.xlm you find in Nuvi/Garmin .
Insert the sd in your pc and start Mapupdater. I guess your installation will be successful.
After that copy all the files in your Nuvi .
You can put some files in the sd for example:
    SD/Map/gmap3d.img
    SD/Garmin/JCV/*.JCV

    look at your setup log:
"There is not enough free space: Expected Free - 3004120 Total File Size - 4401581
[2012-09-30 16:53:25 (UTC-05:00)] | There is now free space: Expected Free - 3004120 Total File Size Internal - 2604909 Expected Free on SD - 3943396 Total File Size SD - 1796672"

ok so i'll just use a pendrive copy my device.xml and when it is done move all the files to the corresponding folders?
i guess i dont need unlock code for the map files since it is getting info on my .xml file itself?

If you download over pendrive then you create folder Garmin and add inside your garmindevice.xml
