Unhappy Nuvi 50 - Stuck on boot screen

    Hello all

My Nuvi 50 is getting stuck on the boot screen, displaying the Garmin logo constantly and not progressing at all. So far I have tried forcing a hard reset and also tried causing it to go into pre boot mode. I am getting no response.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I won't be able to read your responses until this time tomorrow so please feed me a massive list of things to try for when I return.

    Thank you.

Do you know how to go to pre boot?

I've not found a guide on how to pre-boot the Nuvi 50 but I have tried turning it on while holding the top left corner with and without the usb connected. This hasn't worked so perhaps there is a different way to do it on the nuvi 50?

    Thanks

First you must instal garmin USB drivers from Garmin site:

    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
If you have win 7 install it as administrator

If you have win7 go to updater.exe propertis and make compatibility with win xp sp3.

I already had the driver installed, but I reinstalled it anyway, sadly that's not helped.

How long after a device turns on does it normally take to go into preboot? My Garmin gets stuck even before it displays copyright information.

    Thank you.

Do you recall if yours had the 2.50 update? I think there are real problems with 2.50 and there is a new 2.40 as of 8/31/12.

Perhaps this is my issue, I remember updating to 2.50. Guess I'll wait and see what support has to say.

Thank you very much for everyones help.

    You can try with this:

    http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/22696844/file.html

If you have win 7 make updater.exe compatible with win xp sp3 and then open as Administrator

Now connect nuvi to pc and hold finger in uper left corner

updater will recognice nuvi and you can flash to FW 2.60
