Are you actually reading the posts and trying to make sense of this stuff ?

Yes I am, but I am new to Garmin devices and trying to determine if what people are suggesting are in fact the tools I have downloaded and tried. And Yes I have tried that so far with no luck. I don't seem to be able to get the device to be recognized by my pc or into any screen without it rebooting or turning off.

Kunix's cure is the only way to revive it.
You must try and retry till you load the cure by Updater, than format, copy backup and then flash original firmware like Lolypop wrote above.
Or send it to Garmin, but keep on trying.

Here we go again, you will have here in this tutorial all that you need:

Download and extract on PC desctop cure FW:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

If you do like i wrote you here all will work

Open folder cure from link above and open updater.exe and add dot beside USB in this window

Connect nuvi (with cable) to PC

When you see Garmin logo add finger in uper left corner of screen and hold it there

In updater you will see beside USB your model number and serial (when you see this click on OK button, you have only 5 sec to press OK button)

Now will updater window show erasing

After that you will see on your nuvi screen Loader Loading and now you can release your finger from screen

When proces is over you will see nuvi in mass storage

Format nuvi to FAT32 and add back your backup of nuvi

Now download and extract folder Original to your desctop on PC

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Flash wit this in pre boot and your nuvi will work.

I got the first part to work!!! Now it is showing up on my comp and am trying to copy stuff off it, but am getting a lot of errors.
Once that is done I will format and flash with the file. I am assuming I am supposed to flash with the file you gave me and the GarminCure3 tool?

After formatting it, copy backup in it ,then flash in preboot with Updater the second file in Lolypop post (Original)
Kunix cure is made to see nuvi folder on pc to backup good files and then to format nuvi. To restore it completely at the end ,you must flash the original Garmin nuvi firmware file.
