Have you tried to boot with ldr?
Hi Guys!
Garmin Nuvi 265WT, ID 827, software v6.40 , board v3.
My Sat-Nav had a boot loop problem - Garmin logo, brief white screen and reboot continuously.
Could only get Mass storage recognised if I held top left corner of screen.
Managed to flash to v6.10 - still same problem.
Next flash v500 cure (found elsewhere on another Forum) and now all I get is white screen for 8 secs. and continual reboot.
Cannot get into mass storage anymore as screen does not respond to pressure. Does the cure software over-ride the screen pressure points?
Would like to get it working - any ideas?
Have left battery disconnected for about 10 hours, still no difference.
Is Pre-Boot mode via pressing top left corner of screen?
Need repair tool to see USB again.
Thanks

For pre boot mode on 2x5w you must hold ON button to the left.
Download and unrar this:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Open folder for repair and run updater.exe
add dot beside usb and put mouse currsor on OK button
Connect nuvi to PC and hold ON button to the left all the time.
When updater.exe recognize your nuvi click OK
When you see on your nuvi screen Loader or Loader loading you can release button
when process is done you will have mass storage connection
Now create backup of your nuvi if you dont have it
Format your nuvi to FAT
after format add all from your backup to the nuvi (dont add back gmapbmap.img and gmapprom.img for now)
Flash in pre boot with folder original
Now your nuvi work and you can add back gmapbmap.img and other .img
This procedure work on nuvi 760 with white screen.
You dont press screen for pre boot but you hold button for turn on nuvi to the left.
Hi ddabcd277,
What did you mean by ldr boot?
hamgray
Speaking in general, you can copy boot.bin into SD card renaming it to ldr.bin and it will be executed during the next boot process. When executed, ldr.bin runs commands from update.txt file. And some of these commands can rewrite flash regions.

As I remember bootloader is able to load & execute ldr.bin, but I don't know the exact conditions of this. Usually ldr.bin execution is initiated by firmware. So this won't probably help in this case.
@ kunix
Agree with you. It will be a miracle if the nuvi "wake up" from the "coma" by this way. Of course nothing will be lost if he take a try.
But the big question is what can be done in such cases? Using "the barbaric way" of ripping off the memory and manually programming it as PouchX? IMO it is better to be sold for parts.
Any other ideas? JTAG? From a long time I am searching to read about this method...

Hm, I've just surfed a little bit the disassembly of 2x5W's bootloader and I can say that it tries to execute ldr.bin when SD card is mounted.
So... maybe this ldr.bin trick will work. Someone has to help hamgray with preparing an SD card...
