Do you have EU or US GPS?
Just an update on my progress. I loaded the 4.60 update and everthing went good. I loaded the maps from 2013 .10 file via mapsource unlocking the maps for my unit. All works with the exception that everyone else is finding, cannot do search for POI. I will continue to try and find a solution and will post back if i have any sucess.

Forgive but use the google translator, I'm Spanish.

Hi guys...
The hubby has a 2008 GW w/navi. We sprang for the latest greatest map with gupdate.gcd date of 1/13/2012 (I assume that is 4.6). The Hubby installed it but the map which says 2011 but is really a 2010 map.
The thing is the Map is glitchy as all get out. The streets jump all over the place when you turn a corner and even worse when you set a route the whole thing blinks on and off. We have tried 2 different Cards. I'm thinking its bad firmware or a bad map.
Ideas? My first step was going to be to try a newer map...I actually own another Garmin so I have a gmapprom.img but that is only the Western states.
Garmin seems to be great at Maps but are horrible with software...I always have issues with there software for all of my devices.
As a follow up the bike works just fine with the 2012 map update (with the noted exceptions of the POI search). So my guess is the Map files on the cards being sold by Garmin are corrupt. The issues we were seeing were reported in Mid-2011. Garmin stopped shipping cards until the issue was fixed. Looks like the issue is back. Will likely never buy another GW with a Navi system.
I have a Zumo on my HD and while I still have problems with it blinking out once in a while I can load routes...the husband cannot load the same routes so his is useless for being able to lead on a trip.
Gc
does the 4.6 version download from the satelites??
If i put the 4.6gupdate directly to a new cf card with gmapsupp ( unlocked) and put in and start up,
where will that put me??
Sorry about late discussion. My buddy has a 2010 goldwing in australia with cf card.(2008 maps)
if you can help , thanks in advance.
Hedley
This hedley again,
forgot to say the firmware says version 2.0.

hedley
G'day Hedley,
Nothing to do with fw dl'ed from satellites. The fw updates from the file in post #1 renamed to gupdate.gcd and placed alone on an otherwise blank CF card. Read post #1 carefully as well as the entire thread before proceeding at your own risk.
Maybe your version 2.0 fw is not US but some other regional fw, eg EU. Earlier in this thread a member posted about an issue using US fw 4.60 in an EU GW unit originally running 2.20 EU fw.... It may have been that he was in UK and the US fw is not designed for driving on the left perhaps. Check the earlier posts. It may also be that you need to progressively update from an earlier version rather than go straight to 4.60 in any case. I don't know any one in AU with a GW so i'm unable to check but i thought the AU bikes were fitted with the US 'Gen 1' units although fw 2.0 in a 2010 MY sounds more like EU, maybe. By those other posts it would seem unwise to load the US 4.60 fw onto a EU unit without a lot of prior research.
Best to find out more locally before going ahead. Good luck mate, cheers.

GCScott or anyone that may have an answer,
I and a friend followed your instuctions and all went well. New firmware and 2013.10 map. However, I have a question that you may be able to help me with. I have created transparent overlay maps and installed them on my 2010 Goldwing, a Zumo 550 and a Nuvi 1300 without issues. I used a modified typ file to change the display of the better motorcycling roads. However these maps do not appear on my friends 2008 Goldwing. I noticed the file structure of the CF card only contained gmapsupp.img and associated .unl file and the gupdate.cdg file. We made a backup before starting. Shouldn't there be more .img files? ie: gmapprom, gmapbmap, gmapoem
Due to only having the gmapsupp file to work with, I tried loading my image files from my sd card of the 2010 GoldWing. No luck reading any of the maps. Next we only loaded the 2013.10 map to the cf card gmapsupp.img with positive results. I then combined this map and mine and loaded all using BaseCamp. The 2013.10 map worked but mine were not visible. Tried loading only my maps and nothing appeared. It may have been there but without a basemap we couldn't locate it.
Any ideas or suggestions?
The last update for streetpilot 2610 is 4.80 version.
Does somebody have gupdate.gcd version 4.80, not rgn version.
Thank's
